Nutrisorb Chromium Ingredients & Drug Interactions
by BioCare
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Nutrisorb Chromium against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
Nutrisorb Chromium contains one active ingredient: chromium, supplied here as chromium chloride in a liquid form. The product also includes water, potassium sorbate (a preservative), and citric acid as inactive ingredients.
Does it work?
Strong evidence
The evidence for chromium depends on what you're using it for. It's rated likely effective for chromium deficiency, which is rare in people eating a normal diet.
For type 2 diabetes and impaired glucose tolerance (prediabetes), the data shows chromium is possibly effective for diabetes but possibly ineffective for prediabetes. For schizophrenia and high blood pressure, research suggests it's possibly ineffective.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Chromium is generally well tolerated at typical supplement doses. The most common side effects are gastrointestinal irritation, headaches, insomnia, irritability, and mood changes.
Rare serious effects — kidney or liver damage, muscle breakdown (rhabdomyolysis), and low platelet counts — have been reported, mostly with high or long-term doses. Skin reactions including rashes and hives can occur, particularly in people with contact sensitivity to chromium.
The safety data advises against taking extra chromium supplements during pregnancy and breastfeeding unless your doctor recommends it. Small amounts from food or a prenatal vitamin are considered acceptable, but supplement doses above that are not advised without medical guidance.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Check with your pharmacist if you take insulin or antidiabetes drugs (blood sugar medications), levothyroxine (thyroid medication), NSAIDs like ibuprofen or naproxen, or aspirin. Chromium may lower your blood sugar further or reduce how much thyroid medication your body absorbs, and these drugs may increase how much chromium builds up in your system.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with clinical evidence supporting its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Nutrisorb Chromium may help with chromium deficiency or possibly support blood sugar management in type 2 diabetes, but it's not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding without doctor approval. If you take insulin, diabetes medications, levothyroxine, or regular NSAIDs or aspirin, talk with your pharmacist before starting this — the interactions could affect how well your medications work or your blood sugar levels.

Nutrisorb Chromium by BioCare Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Nutrisorb Chromium by BioCare does interact with several medication types.
The most serious concerns are with insulin and antidiabetes drugs (like metformin, sulfonylureas, and GLP-1 agonists), where chromium may increase the risk of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) by enhancing how your body uses insulin or lowering blood glucose on its own.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Chromium also interacts with levothyroxine (Synthroid and generics), a thyroid medication — it can bind to the drug in your gut and reduce how much your body absorbs, lowering its effectiveness by around 17% in clinical studies. Additionally, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) like ibuprofen and naproxen, as well as aspirin, may increase how much chromium your body absorbs and retains, raising chromium levels in your blood.
Altogether, these interactions span 177 individual medications. If you take any of these drug types — especially insulin, diabetes medications, or levothyroxine — run your exact medications through the checker on this page before starting this supplement.

For each ingredient in Nutrisorb Chromium with known interactions, here are the types of medications it can affect. Open any type for the detail — or search your exact drug in the checker above.
Chromium
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, chromium may have additive effects with antidiabetic agents and increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
Some research shows that taking chromium might lower blood glucose levels, especially in patients with poorly controlled type 2 diabetes.
Insulin
Theoretically, concomitant use of chromium and insulin might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
In clinical research, chromium has been shown to increase insulin sensitivity,
Levothyroxine (Synthroid, Others)
Chromium might bind levothyroxine in the intestinal tract and decrease levothyroxine absorption.
Clinical research in healthy volunteers shows that taking chromium picolinate 1000 mcg with levothyroxine 1 mg decreases serum levels of levothyroxine by 17% when compared to taking levothyroxine alone. Advise patients to take levothyroxine at least 30 minutes before or 3-4 hours after taking chromium.
Aspirin
Theoretically, aspirin might increase chromium absorption.
Animal research suggests that aspirin may increase chromium absorption and chromium levels in the blood.
Nonsteroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (Nsaids)
NSAIDs might increase chromium levels in the body.
Drugs that are prostaglandin inhibitors, such as NSAIDs, seem to increase chromium absorption and retention.
