Chromium + Empagliflozin
Empagliflozin brand name: Jardiance.
Chromium has a moderate interaction with Empagliflozin. Theoretically, chromium may have additive effects with antidiabetic agents and increase the risk of hypoglycemia.

ANTIDIABETES DRUGS
Why this applies to Empagliflozin
Empagliflozin falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Chromium interacts with.
Some research shows that taking chromium might lower blood glucose levels, especially in patients with poorly controlled type 2 diabetes.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the simple version: chromium may gently nudge your blood sugar lower by helping insulin work better. Since empagliflozin (Jardiance) already lowers blood sugar (it makes your kidneys flush extra sugar out in your urine), stacking the two could add up. The realistic concern is your numbers dipping a little lower than expected over time.
Now, the good news: empagliflozin by itself rarely causes serious low blood sugar unless you also take insulin or a sulfonylurea (like glipizide). So for most folks this is a mild, watch-and-see situation, not an emergency. If you take chromium, keep an eye out for shakiness, sweating, or dizziness, and check your sugars. Please loop in your pharmacist or doctor before adding it.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Empagliflozin page
“Almost everything on this page can nudge blood sugar in someone taking empagliflozin (Jardiance) for type 2 diabetes, heart failure, or kidney protection, and two entries deserve genuine caution before anything else. About Chromium
What is Chromium?
- Blood sugar support in type 2 diabetes
- Weight loss and appetite control
- Insulin sensitivity
- Cholesterol and lipid support
- General nutritional supplement
Chromium is an essential trace mineral involved in how the body handles sugar and fat. Some studies suggest it may modestly help blood sugar control in certain people with type 2 diabetes, but results are mixed and the effect on weight loss is small and uncertain. For most healthy people who eat a varied diet, supplements are not needed; check with your pharmacist or doctor before starting.

Empagliflozin Is Linked to Lower Levels of One Nutrient
Natural Medicines records Empagliflozin as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Chromium — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
