Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
NONSTEROIDAL ANTI-INFLAMMATORY DRUGS (NSAIDs)
Why this applies to Meloxicam
Meloxicam falls under NONSTEROIDAL ANTI-INFLAMMATORY DRUGS (NSAIDs) — the group Chromium interacts with.
Drugs that are prostaglandin inhibitors, such as NSAIDs, seem to increase chromium absorption and retention.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the thing to know about pairing chromium with meloxicam: it actually runs the opposite direction of most interactions. Meloxicam isn't broken down into something it needs to work, and it doesn't change how chromium does its job. Instead, anti-inflammatory drugs like meloxicam may nudge your body to absorb and hold onto a bit more chromium. So the supplement level can creep up slightly, not the drug.
This is rated minor and is only theoretical, based on how these drugs work rather than real patient reports. For most folks taking a standard chromium supplement, this isn't something to worry about. Still, if you take chromium for blood sugar, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor so they can keep an eye on things.

Questions About Chromium or Meloxicam
These are real questions from readers, answered by the pharmacists at HelloPharmacist — written by a person, not generated from a database. Each one covers Chromium or Meloxicam, not necessarily both, but if one is close to what you were about to ask it will usually go further than a database entry can:

- Is Creatine Safe To Take With Meloxicam Or Other NSAIDs? ›

See Every Supplement That Interacts With Meloxicam
This page covers Chromium only. If you take other supplements — a multivitamin, a sleep aid, something for joints — the Meloxicam page lists 113 supplements it has a documented interaction with, worst first, each one explained.
The most serious there right now: Activated Charcoal (major), Asarabacca (major), Beer (major), Siberian Cocklebur (major) and Wine (major).
By severity: 5 major · 81 moderate · 27 minor.
From our pharmacist’s overview on the Meloxicam page
“Most people take meloxicam (Mobic) daily for arthritis pain, which gives supplement interactions time to add up, so I read this list with real vigilance. Five of the 113 ingredients on file carry a major rating, and two are simply beer and wine, because alcohol plus any NSAID raises the odds of stomach bleeding.”

About Chromium
What is Chromium?
- Blood sugar support in type 2 diabetes
- Weight loss and appetite control
- Insulin sensitivity
- Cholesterol and lipid support
- General nutritional supplement
Chromium is an essential trace mineral involved in how the body handles sugar and fat. Some studies suggest it may modestly help blood sugar control in certain people with type 2 diabetes, but results are mixed and the effect on weight loss is small and uncertain. For most healthy people who eat a varied diet, supplements are not needed; check with your pharmacist or doctor before starting.
About Meloxicam
What Is Meloxicam Used For?
Brand names: Mobic, Vivlodex, Qmiiz ODT, Anjeso
Meloxicam is used to relieve the signs and symptoms of osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. Some oral forms are also used for juvenile rheumatoid arthritis.
Not every product is approved for every use. Meloxicam capsules are indicated only for osteoarthritis pain. The intravenous injections Qamzova and Xifyrm are used in adults for moderate-to-severe pain, alone or with non-NSAID pain relievers.

Meloxicam Is Linked to Lower Levels of One Nutrient
Natural Medicines records Meloxicam as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Chromium — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
