Chromium + Canagliflozin
Canagliflozin brand name: Invokana.
Chromium has a moderate interaction with Canagliflozin. Theoretically, chromium may have additive effects with antidiabetic agents and increase the risk of hypoglycemia.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
ANTIDIABETES DRUGS
Why this applies to Canagliflozin
Canagliflozin falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Chromium interacts with.
Some research shows that taking chromium might lower blood glucose levels, especially in patients with poorly controlled type 2 diabetes.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist: chromium may gently lower blood sugar on its own, mainly by helping insulin work better. Canagliflozin (Invokana) also lowers blood sugar, but in a totally different way (it makes your kidneys flush out extra sugar through your urine). This isn't about one slowing the other down in your liver. Instead, the two effects can simply add up, which could push your blood sugar lower than expected.
For most people that's a small, possible risk, not a sure thing. Canagliflozin alone rarely causes lows, but pairing it with chromium, especially if you're also on insulin or a sulfonylurea, raises the odds a bit. Watch for shakiness, sweating, or dizziness, and please run any new chromium supplement past your pharmacist or doctor first.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Canagliflozin page
“Canagliflozin (Invokana) lowers blood sugar, and that is precisely why this list deserves genuine care. Nearly every ingredient on it works on glucose one way or another: most can push it too low when stacked with the drug, while a few, niacin among them, raise it and work against the medicine.”

About Chromium
What is Chromium?
- Blood sugar support in type 2 diabetes
- Weight loss and appetite control
- Insulin sensitivity
- Cholesterol and lipid support
- General nutritional supplement
Chromium is an essential trace mineral involved in how the body handles sugar and fat. Some studies suggest it may modestly help blood sugar control in certain people with type 2 diabetes, but results are mixed and the effect on weight loss is small and uncertain. For most healthy people who eat a varied diet, supplements are not needed; check with your pharmacist or doctor before starting.
About Canagliflozin
What Is Canagliflozin Used For?
Brand name: Invokana
Invokana (canagliflozin) is used alongside diet and exercise to improve blood sugar control in adults and children aged 10 and older with type 2 diabetes. It is not for type 1 diabetes.
In adults with type 2 diabetes, Invokana is also used to lower the risk of heart attack, stroke, and cardiovascular death in those with established cardiovascular disease, and to reduce the risk of serious kidney complications — including end-stage kidney disease, cardiovascular death, and hospitalization for heart failure — in those with diabetic kidney disease and high levels of protein in the urine.

Canagliflozin Is Linked to Lower Levels of One Nutrient
Natural Medicines records Canagliflozin as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Chromium — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
