Here's the interesting twist with this pairing: it's actually the celecoxib (Celebrex) that may nudge the chromium, not the other way around. Celecoxib works by blocking prostaglandins to ease pain and swelling, and that same action is thought to help your body absorb and hold onto a bit more chromium. So if anything, your chromium levels could run slightly higher when you take the two together.

The good news is this is a minor, theoretical concern based on how the drugs work, not on real problems showing up in patients. For most people, the small bump in chromium isn't likely to cause trouble. Still, if you take a concentrated chromium supplement daily, it's worth a quick mention to your pharmacist or doctor so they can keep an eye on things.

What Is Celecoxib Used For?

Brand names: Celebrex, Elyxyb

Celecoxib capsules and the generic oral suspension treat the signs and symptoms of osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis (AS), and juvenile rheumatoid arthritis (JRA) in children 2 years and older. Celecoxib capsules also treat acute pain and primary dysmenorrhea (painful periods) in adults.

ELYXYB (celecoxib oral liquid) is specifically approved for the acute treatment of migraine with or without aura in adults — but it is not used to prevent migraines. VYSCOXA (celecoxib oral suspension) is not indicated for acute pain or primary dysmenorrhea.
