Octacosanol
Octacosanol is a long-chain alcohol that is found in a variety of plant sources, including wheat germ oil, rice bran oil, and sugar cane wax. It is a white, waxy substance that is used as a dietary supplement and is purported to have a number of potential health benefits. Octacosanol has been studied for its effects on physical performance and exercise endurance. Some research suggests that it may improve muscle strength and endurance, as well as increase oxygen utilization during exercise. However, these findings are mixed and more research is needed to confirm the effects of octacosanol on physical performance. Octacosanol is also thought to have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, and it is sometimes used to treat a variety of conditions, including high cholesterol, anxiety, and multiple sclerosis. However, the effectiveness of octacosanol for these conditions has not been established, and more research is needed to understand its potential benefits and risks.
