OncoProtect ES Ingredients & Drug Interactions
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking OncoProtect ES against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
OncoProtect ES contains two active ingredients: glucoraphanin and myrosinase, delivered as broccoli extract (called TrueBroc). Glucoraphanin is a compound naturally found in broccoli; when myrosinase is present, the two work together to form sulforaphane, a substance some research suggests may support cellular health.
The product also contains hypromellose, an inert capsule material.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The evidence for broccoli extract in colorectal cancer prevention is possibly effective based on the data we hold. For other cancers—bladder, breast, and gastric—and for fibromyalgia, the evidence is insufficient to rate whether it works.
This means either the research is limited or mixed, so we can't yet say whether the product would help with those conditions.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Broccoli as a food is generally well tolerated in normal amounts. However, concentrated broccoli supplements like this one are less well studied, and the facts recommend avoiding concentrated extracts unless your doctor approves.
Some people report loose stools, diarrhea, stomach pain, or cramping after taking broccoli seed and sprout extracts, especially at higher doses. Allergic contact reactions to broccoli have also been reported.
Regarding pregnancy and lactation, broccoli extract is rated likely safe, so the safety data does not advise against it during pregnancy or nursing. That said, since concentrated supplements are less studied overall, it's wise to talk with your doctor or pharmacist before starting if you're pregnant or breastfeeding.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before taking OncoProtect ES, check with your doctor or pharmacist if you take any medications metabolized by CYP2A6 (including some smoking-cessation aids and pain relievers) or CYP1A2 (including some antidepressants and heart medications). Broccoli extract can speed up how quickly your liver clears these drugs, which may reduce their effectiveness.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
OncoProtect ES may be worth considering if you're interested in colorectal cancer support and your doctor agrees it fits your health plan. However, because broccoli extract can speed up your liver's breakdown of many medications, you need to check your exact medications with your own doctor or pharmacist before starting—this is especially important if you take anything for smoking cessation, heart conditions, depression, or pain.
If you experience loose stools or stomach cramping after starting, let your healthcare provider know.

OncoProtect ES by Pure TheraPro Rx Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
OncoProtect ES by Pure TheraPro Rx contains broccoli extract, which interacts with medications metabolized by two liver enzymes.
The most serious concern is with drugs broken down by CYP2A6 (a liver enzyme)—broccoli can significantly speed up how your body clears these medications, potentially making them less effective. This includes certain smoking-cessation drugs, some pain relievers, and other medications processed this way.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Broccoli extract also affects drugs metabolized by CYP1A2, another liver enzyme involved in clearing some antidepressants, heart medications, and other common drugs. Both interactions work the same way: the broccoli's glucosinolate compounds rev up your liver's activity, which means your body processes these drugs faster and they don't stay in your system as long.
We were unable to check Myrosinase (an enzyme in the product) because we hold no interaction data for it. Altogether, these interactions span 187 individual medications.
Before starting OncoProtect ES, run your exact medications through the interaction checker on this page or talk with your doctor or pharmacist—especially if you take anything for smoking cessation, depression, heart rhythm, or pain.

TrueBroc
Cytochrome P450 1A2 (Cyp1A2) Substrates
Theoretically, broccoli might reduce the levels and effects of drugs metabolized by CYP1A2.
Pharmacokinetic research in humans shows that eating 500 grams of fresh broccoli daily for 6-12 days can increase CYP1A2 activity by 10% to 200%. Induction of CYP1A2 activity by broccoli is attributed to its glucosinolate constituents.
Cytochrome P450 2A6 (Cyp2A6) Substrates
Theoretically, broccoli might reduce the levels and effects of drugs metabolized by CYP2A6.
Pharmacokinetic research in humans shows that eating 500 grams of broccoli daily for 6 days increases CYP2A6 activity by 135% to 550%. Induction of CYP2A6 activity is attributed to its glucosinolate constituents.
