HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Methyl B Complete by Pure TheraPro Rx
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
Methyl B Complete contains 6 active ingredients: vitamin B6, folate, riboflavin, adenosylcobalamin (a form of vitamin B12), vitamin B12 (which is a container for component ingredients listed separately), trimethylglycine, and mecobalactive (another B12 form). Together they support energy metabolism, nerve function, and red blood cell formation.
The product also contains inactive ingredients—a capsule material (DRcaps) and tricalcium phosphate as a filler.
Does it work?
Strong evidence
Vitamin B6 is effective for sideroblastic anemia and B6 deficiency, likely effective for high homocysteine (a heart risk marker), and possibly effective for pregnancy-related nausea. The B12 forms (adenosylcobalamin and mecobalactive) are effective for B12 deficiency and a rare absorption disorder (Imerslund-Grasbeck disease), likely effective for cyanide poisoning, and possibly effective for canker sores and nerve pain after shingles.
Riboflavin and folate have no established effectiveness ratings in our data. Trimethylglycine and quatrefolic also have no effectiveness data on file.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Vitamin B6 is well tolerated at doses under 100 mg daily, though doses above that over time can damage nerves (sensory neuropathy). Doses over 1,000 mg daily or cumulative totals of 1,000 grams or more carry the highest risk, but neuropathy can happen at lower doses too.
Common side effects include abdominal pain, headache, heartburn, nausea, and drowsiness. Riboflavin is very safe; excess leaves your body in urine.
You may notice bright yellow urine or mild nausea at higher doses. B12 (adenosylcobalamin and mecobalactive) is very safe with no upper limit; excess is excreted.
Rarely, B12 can cause allergic reactions like rash or itching. For pregnancy: vitamin B6 is likely safe, though one rating notes possibly unsafe—talk with your doctor about dosing.
Riboflavin and B12 are likely safe in pregnancy and lactation at recommended amounts.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Check with your doctor or pharmacist before starting if you take seizure medications (phenobarbital or phenytoin), blood pressure-lowering drugs, the heart rhythm medication amiodarone, tetracycline antibiotics, or metformin for diabetes. These have Moderate or Minor interactions documented with the B vitamins in this product.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with clinical evidence supporting its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This is a B-vitamin complex useful if you're deficient in B6 or B12 or managing high homocysteine. Be careful if you take seizure medications (phenobarbital or phenytoin), blood pressure drugs, amiodarone, or metformin—check each one with your own pharmacist or doctor before starting.
Avoid high doses of B6 long-term to protect your nerves. Have the conversation with your doctor or pharmacist before you begin.

Methyl B Complete by Pure TheraPro Rx Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Methyl B Complete by Pure TheraPro Rx does interact with medications, primarily through its vitamin B6, riboflavin, and B12 content (adenosylcobalamin and mecobalactive).
The most serious interaction is Moderate severity: vitamin B6 may reduce how well phenobarbital and phenytoin (seizure medications) work in your body by speeding up their breakdown in the liver.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Vitamin B6 also has Moderate interactions with blood pressure medications—it may add to their effect and lower your pressure further—and with amiodarone, a heart rhythm drug, where it might make photosensitivity (sun sensitivity) worse. There's a Minor interaction with levodopa (Parkinson's medication), but only if you're taking levodopa alone; the interaction doesn't happen when it's combined with carbidopa.
Riboflavin interacts Moderately with tetracycline antibiotics and may reduce their potency, though this hasn't been confirmed in human studies. Adenosylcobalamin and mecobalactive (both forms of B12) each interact Minor with metformin (diabetes medication), potentially lowering your B12 levels over time.
We could not check trimethylglycine and quatrefolic for interactions. Altogether, these interactions span 250 individual medications.

For each ingredient in Methyl B Complete with known interactions, here are the types of medications they can affect. Open any type for the detail — or search your exact drug in the checker above.
Vitamin B6
Amiodarone (Cordarone)
Theoretically, vitamin B6 might increase the photosensitivity caused by amiodarone.
Despite initial case reports suggesting that pyridoxine may have a protective effect against amiodarone-induced photosensitivity, preliminary clinical research suggests that pyridoxine may actually exacerbate this adverse effect.
Antihypertensive Drugs
Theoretically, vitamin B6 may have additive effects when used with antihypertensive drugs.
Research in hypertensive rats shows that vitamin B6 can decrease systolic blood pressure. Similarly, clinical research in patients with hypertension shows that taking high doses of vitamin B6 may reduce systolic and diastolic blood pressure, possibly by reducing plasma levels of epinephrine and norepinephrine.
Phenobarbital (Luminal)
High doses of vitamin B6 may reduce the levels and clinical effects of phenobarbital.
Preliminary clinical evidence suggests that vitamin B6 200 mg daily can reduce plasma levels of phenobarbital, possibly by increasing metabolism. It is not known whether lower doses have any effect. Advise people taking phenobarbital to avoid high doses of vitamin B6.
Phenytoin (Dilantin)
High doses of vitamin B6 may reduce the levels and clinical effects of phenytoin.
Preliminary clinical evidence suggests that vitamin B6 200 mg daily can reduce plasma levels of phenytoin, possibly by increasing metabolism. It is not known whether lower doses have any effect. Advise people taking phenytoin to avoid high doses of vitamin B6.
Levodopa
Vitamin B6 may increase the metabolism of levodopa when taken alone, but not when taken in conjunction with carbidopa.
Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine) enhances the metabolism of levodopa, reducing its clinical effects. However, this interaction does not occur when carbidopa is used concurrently with levodopa (Sinemet). Therefore, it is not likely to be a problem in most people.
Riboflavin
Tetracycline Antibiotics
Theoretically, taking riboflavin with tetracycline antibiotics may decrease the potency of these antibiotics.
In vitro research suggests that riboflavin may inhibit the potency of tetracycline antibiotics. It is not clear if this effect is clinically significant, as this interaction has not been reported in humans.
Vitamin B12
Metformin (Glucophage)
Metformin, a common medication used to manage type 2 diabetes, has been associated with lower vitamin B12 levels in some individuals. Prolonged use of metformin can interfere with the absorption of B12 in the digestive system, potentially leading to a deficiency in this essential vitamin.
