Theoretically, vitamin B6 might increase the photosensitivity caused by amiodarone.
Despite initial case reports suggesting that pyridoxine may have a protective effect against amiodarone-induced photosensitivity, preliminary clinical research suggests that pyridoxine may actually exacerbate this adverse effect.

Here's the gist for these two together. Amiodarone is well known for making your skin much more sensitive to sunlight, so you can sunburn faster or get a reaction even on a cloudy day. Some early reports actually hoped vitamin B6 might protect against that, but the newer research points the other way: high-dose B6 may make amiodarone's sun sensitivity worse, not better. Amiodarone itself isn't a prodrug here, so this is really about that skin reaction adding up.

I'd put this in the "good to know, not panic" category, since the evidence is fairly weak and theoretical. Everyday B6 from food is unlikely to matter. If you take a concentrated B6 supplement, mention it to your pharmacist or doctor, and either way, stay diligent with sunscreen and covering up.

What Is Amiodarone Used For?

Amiodarone is prescribed for adults with serious, life-threatening heart-rhythm problems that haven't responded to other medications. Specifically, it's used for two dangerous arrhythmias (abnormal heartbeats): recurrent ventricular fibrillation (a chaotic, potentially fatal heart rhythm) and recurrent ventricular tachycardia (a dangerously fast heart rhythm that causes unstable blood pressure).

Because amiodarone comes with significant risks, doctors reserve it for situations where other options haven't worked or can't be tolerated. It is not a first-choice medication — it's a last-resort tool for serious, life-threatening conditions.
