NewtonEverett Organic Coconut Oil is a softgel capsule containing 8 active ingredients—all naturally occurring fatty acids that make up the oil itself. The main ones are caprylic acid, capric acid, lauric acid, linoleic acid, oleic acid, palmitic acid, myristic acid, and stearic acid.
These are the fats that give coconut oil its nutritional and functional properties. The capsule also contains inactive ingredients (gelatin, medium-chain triglycerides, vegetable glycerin, water, and titanium dioxide color) that serve as the capsule shell and help deliver the oil.

Moderate evidence
The evidence for coconut oil's effectiveness is mixed and limited by ingredient. Oleic acid—one of the fatty acids in this product—is rated possibly effective for high cholesterol (hypercholesterolemia) and heart disease (coronary heart disease).
Lauric acid has insufficient evidence to rate for bronchitis, vaginal yeast infections, common cold, and genital herpes. Caprylic acid also has insufficient evidence for epilepsy and essential tremor.
The other fatty acids in this product lack established effectiveness ratings in our data.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Caprylic acid is generally well tolerated when taken by mouth in the short term, though mild abdominal discomfort, change in taste, and rarely dizziness, headache, or fatigue have been reported. Lauric acid can raise both LDL ('bad') and HDL ('good') cholesterol—though not to the degree that trans-fats do—and nausea may occur at very high infusion rates.
Both caprylic and lauric acids occur naturally in breast milk, but the safety of concentrated supplement doses during pregnancy and breastfeeding is not well established. The product facts do not contain complete pregnancy and breastfeeding safety data for all ingredients.

Caprylic acid also carries Moderate-severity interactions with blood thinners like warfarin (Coumadin) and nonsteroidal pain relievers (NSAIDs). In lab studies, caprylic acid appears to displace these drugs from their protein carriers in the blood, potentially raising their levels—though this has not yet been documented in humans.
Oleic acid presents a separate Moderate-severity interaction with diabetes medications (antidiabetes drugs). Early research suggests that a diet rich in oleic acid may lower fasting blood sugar more than other oil types, which could amplify the effect of your diabetes medication.
