This product contains two active ingredients: pantothenic acid and pantethine. Pantothenic acid (vitamin B5) is a water-soluble B vitamin your body needs for energy production and stress response; it's also used to address pantothenic acid deficiency.
Pantethine is a form of pantothenic acid that's been studied for its effects on cholesterol and fat levels in the blood. Both are forms of vitamin B5, but pantethine carries the documented drug interaction noted above.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
Pantothenic acid is effective for treating pantothenic acid deficiency. For other uses — including radiation-induced skin damage, hay fever, hair loss, and alcoholism — the evidence is either limited or suggests it's not effective; we don't have strong data to support those claims.
Pantethine appears possibly effective for high cholesterol and high triglycerides (hyperlipoproteinemia), but evidence for other uses such as athletic performance is insufficient. The data on file doesn't establish whether it works for those purposes.
How safe is it?

Pantothenic acid is generally well tolerated at typical supplement doses; the main caution is to check with your doctor before taking high-dose supplements. Pregnancy and lactation ratings for pantothenic acid are likely safe.
