What’s inside
Full disclosure
VitalBulk Potassium 99 mg contains one active ingredient: potassium, a mineral your body needs for nerve and muscle function, including a steady heartbeat. The tablet also includes inactive ingredients—cellulose, stearic acid, silicon dioxide, magnesium stearate, and glycerin—which are fillers and binders that help form and preserve the pill.
Does it work?
Couldn't assess
The product facts we hold do not include effectiveness ratings for potassium supplementation at this dose. We cannot tell you from our data whether it works for any particular purpose.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Potassium from food is generally safe, but supplements can be risky. High potassium levels in the blood are rare when you get potassium from a normal diet, but supplements can push levels dangerously high, especially if you have kidney disease.
Most people tolerate it well by mouth, though some experience abdominal pain, belching, diarrhea, gas, nausea, or vomiting. In rare cases, very high potassium can cause irregular heartbeats, heart block, low blood pressure, mental confusion, or even cardiac arrest.
During pregnancy, dietary potassium is appropriate, but use supplements only under medical guidance. The same applies to breastfeeding — talk with your doctor or pharmacist before taking this supplement while nursing.
The product facts note only that potassium is likely safe in those periods; get personalized advice from your own healthcare provider before starting.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before you take this supplement, double-check your medications against potassium-sparing diuretics, ACE inhibitors, and angiotensin receptor blockers — all Moderate interactions that raise the risk of dangerously high blood potassium. If you take any of these, talk with your doctor or pharmacist first.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This supplement is for people whose doctor has specifically recommended potassium supplementation and who don't take blood pressure medications like ACE inhibitors, ARBs, or potassium-sparing diuretics. If you're on any heart or kidney medication, have kidney disease, or are pregnant or breastfeeding, check with your doctor or pharmacist before starting.
Altogether, these interactions span 62 individual medications.

Potassium 99 mg by VitalBulk Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
VitalBulk's Potassium 99 mg interacts with three major classes of blood pressure and heart medications through its potassium content.
The most serious concern is with potassium-sparing diuretics (water pills that preserve potassium), ACE inhibitors, and angiotensin receptor blockers (ARBs) — all of which can allow potassium to build up in your bloodstream. When you combine this supplement with any of these drugs, you raise your risk of hyperkalemia, a dangerous increase in blood potassium that can trigger irregular heartbeats, heart block, low blood pressure, and confusion.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
All three drug classes work by affecting how your kidneys handle potassium. Potassium-sparing diuretics directly prevent potassium loss; ACE inhibitors and ARBs block a system that normally tells your kidneys to excrete potassium.
Adding a potassium supplement on top amplifies the risk. These are all Moderate-severity interactions — serious enough that your doctor or pharmacist needs to know before you start.
Although we hold interaction data for potassium's main targets, the only way to know whether it's safe for YOUR medicines is to check your exact prescriptions with the search tool on this page or discuss the product with your pharmacist.

For each ingredient in Potassium 99 mg with known interactions, here are the types of medications it can affect. Open any type for the detail — or search your exact drug in the checker above.
Potassium
Ace Inhibitors (Aceis)
Using ACEIs with high doses of potassium increases the risk of hyperkalemia.
ACEIs block the actions of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system and reduce potassium excretion. Concomitant use of these drugs with potassium supplements increases the risk of hyperkalemia. However, concomitant use of these drugs with moderate dietary potassium intake (about 3775-5200 mg daily) does not increase serum potassium levels.
Angiotensin Receptor Blockers (Arbs)
Using ARBs with high doses of potassium increases the risk of hyperkalemia.
ARBs block the actions of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system and reduce potassium excretion. Concomitant use of these drugs with potassium supplements increases the risk of hyperkalemia. However, concomitant use of these drugs with moderate dietary potassium intake (about 3775-5200 mg daily) does not increase serum potassium levels.
Potassium-Sparing Diuretics
Concomitant use increases the risk of hyperkalemia.
Using potassium-sparing diuretics with potassium supplements increases the risk of hyperkalemia.
