What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Probiotic 10 against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Probiotic 10 by Nature's Bounty
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
Probiotic 10 contains 11 active ingredients: inulin (a prebiotic fiber that feeds beneficial bacteria) and ten different live Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium strains. These are probiotics—beneficial bacteria intended to support digestive health.
The product also contains inactive ingredients like dicalcium phosphate, vegetable cellulose, silica, and vegetable magnesium stearate, which serve as capsule material and flow agents.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The evidence for this product is mixed depending on which part you're looking at. Inulin shows possibly effective ratings for constipation, obesity, and diabetes management.
Lactobacillus acidophilus—one of the checked strains—is possibly effective for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), antibiotic-associated diarrhea, bacterial vaginosis, and Helicobacter pylori infection. The other Lactobacillus strain we could evaluate, Lactobacillus bulgaricus, has insufficient evidence for acne, hay fever, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, asthma, fatty liver disease, and the common cold.
For several other bacterial strains in the formula, we don't have effectiveness data on file.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Overall, Probiotic 10 is generally well tolerated in healthy adults. The most common side effects come from inulin and involve the digestive tract—bloating, flatulence, diarrhea, constipation, and cramping, especially at higher doses over 30 grams.
When Lactobacillus acidophilus is combined with other probiotics (as it is here), uncommon gastrointestinal side effects like stomach discomfort, abdominal pain, bloating, diarrhea, and burping may occur. There is a rare theoretical concern that live probiotic organisms could cause infection in people who are very ill or severely immunocompromised, though this is uncommon.
Inulin is rated likely safe in pregnancy, and Lactobacillus acidophilus is rated possibly safe in pregnancy, though probiotic supplement safety during pregnancy hasn't been well studied—talk with your doctor before use if you're pregnant.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Check these medication types before taking Probiotic 10: antidiabetes drugs (inulin may increase the risk of low blood sugar—your doctor may need to monitor your levels), and antibiotic drugs (the live bacteria in the probiotics might be killed by antibiotics, so you'll likely need to space them several hours apart). Run your exact medications through the search tool on this page to be sure.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with some supporting evidence behind its ingredients' uses. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This probiotic blend might help with digestive issues like IBS or diarrhea, especially the acidophilus strain, and inulin may support blood sugar and weight management. If you take antibiotics or antidiabetes medications, check with your doctor or pharmacist first—timing matters with antibiotics, and your blood sugar will need monitoring if you're on diabetes drugs.
People who are very ill or have weak immune systems should get guidance from their healthcare provider before starting. Talk it over with your own doctor or pharmacist to see if it fits your situation.

Probiotic 10 by Nature's Bounty Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Probiotic 10 by Nature's Bounty does interact with some medications.
The main concerns come from its inulin and two of its Lactobacillus strains—inulin and Lactobacillus acidophilus and Lactobacillus bulgaricus content can affect how certain drugs work.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Inulin carries a minor interaction with antidiabetes drugs (medications that lower blood sugar). While inulin may improve blood sugar control in some people, there's a theoretical risk it could increase the chance of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) when used alongside these drugs.
The two Lactobacillus strains—acidophilus and bulgaricus—interact with antibiotic drugs. Since probiotics contain live organisms, antibiotics taken at the same time might kill off a significant number of them, reducing the probiotic's effectiveness.
Separating when you take antibiotics and this supplement can help.
We could not check several other ingredients in this formula—Lactobacillus casei Lc-11, Lactobacillus salivarius Ls-33, Lactobacillus brevis Lbr-35, Bifidobacterium lactis Bl-04, Lactobacillus paracasei Lpc-37, Lactobacillus plantarum 299v, and Lactobacillus paracasei DSM 13434—because we hold no interaction data for them. Altogether, these interactions span 268 individual medications.

Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking Lactobacillus delbrueckii with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of L. delbrueckii.
Lactobacillus delbrueckii preparations usually contain live and active organisms. Therefore, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and L. delbrueckii preparations by at least two hours.
Lactobacillus acidophilus LA14
Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking Lactobacillus acidophilus with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of L. acidophilus.
L. acidophilus preparations usually contain live and active organisms. Therefore, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and L. acidophilus preparations by at least two hours.
Inulin
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, inulin might increase the risk of hypoglycemia with antidiabetes drugs.
Some clinical research shows that inulin improves glycemic control in patients with diabetes; however, it is unclear if it has hypoglycemic effects.
