Probiotic Ingredients & Drug Interactions
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Probiotic against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Probiotic by BELDT Labs Bedrock Series
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
This capsule contains 8 active ingredients: four live bacterial strains (Bifidobacterium bifidum, Lactobacillus acidophilus, Bacillus coagulans, and Bacillus subtilis, branded as DE111), plus Lactobacillus paracasei and Lactobacillus rhamnosus, along with two prebiotic fibers — FOS and XOS — that feed beneficial bacteria. The capsule itself is made from vegetable cellulose, and the blend includes microcrystalline cellulose, vegetable magnesium stearate, and silicon dioxide as inactive ingredients.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The evidence here is mixed and depends on what you're trying to address. Bifidobacterium bifidum and Lactobacillus acidophilus are both possibly effective for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), and L. acidophilus also has possibly effective ratings for Helicobacter pylori infection, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, and bacterial vaginosis.
Bacillus coagulans is possibly effective for constipation and IBS as well. Bacillus subtilis shows possibly effective evidence for antibiotic-associated diarrhea.
For many other conditions — like hay fever, anxiety, athletic performance, and eczema — the evidence we hold is too limited to rate whether these ingredients help.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
These probiotics are generally well tolerated in healthy adults and children. That said, the safety data is limited, so talk with your doctor before starting, especially if you have a weakened immune system — people who are immunocompromised need to be cautious.
Gastrointestinal side effects like bloating and gas have been reported with probiotics generally, though they're usually uncommon. Rare serious infections (sepsis, bacteremia) have occurred in people with central venous catheters, severe illness, or weakened immunity, but are extremely uncommon in otherwise healthy people.
Bifidobacterium bifidum is possibly safe in pregnancy, but we don't have enough data on the other ingredients to know either way — talk with your doctor or pharmacist for personalized guidance if you're pregnant or breastfeeding.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
If you take antibiotics, this is the critical one: you'll need to separate them from the probiotic to keep the live bacteria alive. All four checked bacterial strains in this product can be killed by antibiotics taken simultaneously.
Check your exact medications using the tool on this page, and ask your doctor or pharmacist about the best timing.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with some supporting evidence behind its ingredients' uses. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This probiotic makes sense if you're dealing with IBS, constipation, or diarrhea related to antibiotics, and you're otherwise in good health. The main thing to watch is timing with antibiotics — you'll need to space them apart.
If you have a weakened immune system or any serious illness, check with your doctor first. Talk with your pharmacist or doctor about whether this product fits your situation and how to take it alongside any other medications.

Probiotic by BELDT Labs Bedrock Series Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
BELDT Labs Bedrock Series Probiotic interacts with antibiotics through its Bifidobacterium bifidum, Lactobacillus acidophilus, Bacillus coagulans, and Bacillus subtilis (DE111) content.
All four of these live bacteria can be killed by antibiotics taken at the same time, which would reduce how well the probiotic works. The concern is Moderate in severity across all four ingredients.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
We couldn't check three other ingredients in this product: Lactobacillus rhamnosus, FOS, and XOS — we hold no interaction data for them.
Although antibiotic interactions are the only documented concern, these span 182 individual medications. If you take any antibiotic, talk with your doctor or pharmacist about timing — you'll likely need to space out when you take the probiotic and the antibiotic to protect the live organisms.
Use the medication checker below to see if any of your drugs are affected.

Bifidobacterium bifidum
Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking Bifidobacterium. bifidum with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of B. bifidum.
Since B. bifidum preparations usually contain live and active organisms, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and B. bifidum preparations by at least 2 hours.
Lactobacillus acidophilus
Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking Lactobacillus acidophilus with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of L. acidophilus.
L. acidophilus preparations usually contain live and active organisms. Therefore, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and L. acidophilus preparations by at least two hours.
Bacillus coagulans
Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking antibiotics with Bacillus coagulans might decrease the effectiveness of B. coagulans.
B. coagulans preparations usually contain live and active organisms. Therefore, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and B. coagulans preparations by at least two hours.
DE111
Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking Bacillus subtilis with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of B. subtilis.
Since B. subtilis preparations usually contain live and active organisms, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and B. subtilis preparations by at least 2 hours.
