Probiotic Complex Ingredients & Drug Interactions
by BIOVEA
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Probiotic Complex against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Probiotic Complex by BIOVEA
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
This product contains 4 active ingredients: three Lactobacillus strains (L. acidophilus, L. bulgaricus, and Streptococcus thermophilus) plus Bifidobacterium bifidum — all live, beneficial bacteria meant to support your gut. These are the same kinds of microbes your digestive system relies on naturally.
The capsule also holds several inactive ingredients (microcrystalline cellulose, hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, vegetable magnesium stearate, and silicon dioxide) that help hold the formula together.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The evidence for this product is mixed. Bifidobacterium bifidum and Lactobacillus acidophilus are both rated possibly effective for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS); L. acidophilus is also possibly effective for Helicobacter pylori, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, and bacterial vaginosis.
For most other conditions the product might be marketed for — hay fever, anxiety, asthma, common cold, and others — the evidence we hold isn't strong enough to rate it one way or the other. Talk with your doctor about whether this fits your specific health goal.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Generally well tolerated in healthy people, though the data are limited and those with weakened immune systems should be cautious before starting. Bloating and flatulence can occur with probiotic use, though they haven't been specifically tied to Bifidobacterium bifidum alone.
Uncommon gastrointestinal side effects — such as stomach discomfort, pain, indigestion, and diarrhea — have been reported when L. acidophilus is combined with other probiotics. Rare but serious infections (sepsis, bacteremia, abscess) have been reported with some probiotic strains in severely ill or immunocompromised patients, though these cases are not thought to involve the specific strains in this product.
For pregnancy, Bifidobacterium bifidum and Lactobacillus acidophilus are rated possibly safe; data on the other two ingredients during pregnancy aren't on file. Breastfeeding safety data also isn't on file for any of these ingredients.
Check with your doctor or pharmacist before use, especially if you're pregnant, breastfeeding, or have a weakened immune system.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Antibiotic drugs are the main concern (Moderate severity). Since the probiotics in this product are live organisms, antibiotics taken at the same time may reduce the supplement's effectiveness by killing off the beneficial bacteria.
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist about timing — they can help you space out your antibiotic and this product so each works as intended.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This probiotic may be worth trying if you're dealing with IBS or antibiotic-related gut issues and want to try a natural approach — two of its ingredients show some promise for those conditions. If you take antibiotics, space them out from this supplement to keep the live bacteria from being killed off.
Anyone with a weakened immune system, or anyone pregnant or breastfeeding, should check with their doctor or pharmacist first before starting.

Probiotic Complex by BIOVEA Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
BIOVEA's Probiotic Complex contains four live bacterial strains, three of which interact with medications: Bifidobacterium bifidum, Lactobacillus acidophilus, and Lactobacillus bulgaricus.
All three can interact with antibiotic drugs (Moderate severity). Since these probiotics are live organisms, taking them at the same time as antibiotics may allow the antibiotic to kill off a significant portion of the beneficial bacteria, reducing the supplement's effectiveness.
Altogether, these interactions span 182 individual medications.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
To protect the probiotics, you'll want to space out your antibiotic and this supplement — don't take them together on the same day. Your doctor or pharmacist can tell you the right timing for your specific antibiotic.
Streptococcus thermophilus, the fourth ingredient, has no interactions documented in our data. That said, if you're on antibiotics, the same spacing advice applies to the whole product.
Use the search tool on this page to check your exact medications before you start.

Probiotic Blend
Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking Lactobacillus acidophilus with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of L. acidophilus.
L. acidophilus preparations usually contain live and active organisms. Therefore, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and L. acidophilus preparations by at least two hours.
