Probiotic Pearls contains 2 active ingredients: Bifidobacterium longum BB536 and Lactobacillus acidophilus (sold under the brand name Howaru). Both are beneficial live bacteria — probiotics — designed to support your gut health.
The capsule also contains inactive ingredients (palm oil, fish gelatin, glycerin, sunflower lecithin, and pectin) that help deliver the bacteria.

Moderate evidence
The evidence for these probiotics varies by condition. Lactobacillus acidophilus has possibly effective evidence for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), antibiotic-associated diarrhea, bacterial vaginosis, and Helicobacter pylori — a stomach bacterium linked to ulcers.
Bifidobacterium longum BB536 has insufficient evidence in our data for the conditions we checked, including cognitive decline, hay fever, anxiety, and asthma. Neither ingredient is rated as proven effective for athletic performance.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Bifidobacterium longum is generally well tolerated in healthy people, but caution is needed if you're seriously ill or have a weakened immune system. Rare side effects include abdominal discomfort, bloating, flatulence, and in one case, a dry cough.
Lactobacillus acidophilus is generally well tolerated in healthy adults and children, though orally it may rarely cause gastrointestinal upset like abdominal pain, bloating, diarrhea, or vomiting. In rare cases, both species have been linked to serious infections in critically ill or immunocompromised patients.
The data on use while breastfeeding are limited; talk with your doctor before starting if you're nursing.

Bifidobacterium longum BB536
Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking Bifidobacterium longum with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of B. longum.
Since B. longum preparations usually contain live and active organisms, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and B. longum preparations by at least 2 hours.

Theoretically, taking Lactobacillus acidophilus with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of L. acidophilus.
L. acidophilus preparations usually contain live and active organisms. Therefore, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and L. acidophilus preparations by at least two hours.
