Prosaic By Nature Ingredients & Drug Interactions
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Prosaic By Nature against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Prosaic By Nature by Amazon Therapeutics
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
Prosaic By Nature is a liquid supplement with 5 active ingredients: rhodiola, maca, damiana, muira puama, and tayuya. Rhodiola is traditionally used to help with stress and energy; maca is commonly used for sexual function and energy; damiana has been used for sexual desire and mood; and muira puama and tayuya are botanical ingredients with traditional uses.
The liquid also contains inactive ingredients — 35–40% organic alcohol and distilled water — to preserve and deliver the active botanicals.
Does it work?
Couldn't assess
The evidence for what this product can do isn't established in our data. All six uses we track for rhodiola — including altitude sickness, anxiety, heart rhythm, athletic performance, and bladder cancer — have insufficient reliable evidence.
The same is true for maca's tracked uses (amenorrhea, anemia, sexual dysfunction, athletic performance, and osteoporosis), damiana's uses (sexual dysfunction, asthma, headache, cognition, constipation, and depression), and muira puama's tracked uses (sexual dysfunction and erectile dysfunction). This doesn't mean the ingredients don't work; it means the clinical evidence hasn't yet established a clear benefit for these conditions.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Rhodiola is generally well tolerated for short-term use, but long-term safety hasn't been well studied. The most common side effects are dizziness and changes in saliva production (either dry mouth or excessive saliva).
Damiana can cause stomach pain, especially uncooked fresh damiana, and at very high doses (200 grams of extract) has caused serious neurological effects in one case. Maca is generally well tolerated as a food, though supplement safety long-term is unclear.
Regarding pregnancy and breastfeeding: the safety data advise against rhodiola, damiana, maca, and muira puama during pregnancy and breastfeeding because there isn't enough data to know either way. Talk with your doctor or pharmacist about whether this product is right for you in these situations.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before you take Prosaic By Nature, double-check with your doctor or pharmacist if you take blood pressure medications (antihypertensives) or losartan — rhodiola may lower your blood pressure further or raise losartan levels. Diabetes medications are also a concern with both rhodiola and damiana, as they may increase low blood sugar risk.
If you take drugs broken down by your liver (including CYP2C9, P-glycoprotein, CYP1A2, or CYP3A4 metabolic pathways) or immunosuppressants, run those by your healthcare provider as well.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Prosaic By Nature may interest people exploring traditional botanical supplements for energy or vitality, but the clinical evidence for its uses isn't yet established. If you take blood pressure medications, diabetes drugs, losartan, immunosuppressants, or drugs that rely on liver metabolism, you should check your exact medications with your doctor or pharmacist before starting this product — rhodiola's interactions with these drug types are documented.
Avoid it during pregnancy or while breastfeeding unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Prosaic By Nature by Amazon Therapeutics Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Prosaic By Nature contains rhodiola and damiana, both of which interact with medications.
The most serious concern is rhodiola's potential to lower blood pressure when combined with antihypertensive drugs (blood pressure medications), which could raise the risk of dangerously low blood pressure (hypotension).
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Rhodiola also interacts moderately with diabetes medications — it may lower blood sugar and increase the risk of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) — and with losartan (Cozaar), a common blood pressure drug, by slowing how your body clears it and potentially raising its levels. Additionally, rhodiola may slow the metabolism of other drugs broken down by your liver, including a broad group of medications processed through CYP2C9, P-glycoprotein pathways, and to a lesser extent CYP1A2 and CYP3A4 enzymes.
Theoretically, this could raise drug levels and side effects. Rhodiola may also interfere with immunosuppressant drugs used to prevent organ rejection or manage autoimmune conditions.
Damiana interacts moderately with diabetes medications in a similar way — it may lower blood sugar and increase hypoglycemia risk. Maca and muira puama have no documented interactions in our data.
We could not check tayuya. Run your exact medications through the search tool on this page before you start.

Rhodiola
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, taking rhodiola with antidiabetes drugs might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
In vitro and animal research shows that rhodiola extract can decrease blood glucose due to alpha-glucosidase activity.
Antihypertensive Drugs
Theoretically, taking rhodiola with antihypertensive drugs might increase the risk of hypotension.
In vitro and animal research shows that rhodiola extract inhibits angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) and might lower blood pressure.
Cytochrome P450 2C9 (Cyp2C9) Substrates
Theoretically, rhodiola might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2C9.
In vitro research shows that rhodiola inhibits CYP2C9. This effect is highly variable and appears to be dependent on the rhodiola product studied. Also, a clinical study in healthy young males found that taking rhodiola extract 290 mg daily for 14 days reduces the metabolism of losartan, a CYP2C9 substrate, by 21% after 4 hours.
Immunosuppressants
Theoretically, rhodiola use might interfere with immunosuppressive therapy.
In vitro and animal research show that rhodiola has immunostimulatory effects.
Losartan (Cozaar)
Rhodiola might increase the levels and adverse effects of losartan.
A clinical study in healthy young males found that taking rhodiola extract 290 mg daily for 14 days reduces the metabolism of losartan, a CYP2C9 substrate, by 21% after 4 hours.
P-Glycoprotein Substrates
Theoretically, rhodiola might increase levels of P-glycoprotein substrates.
In vitro research shows that rhodiola inhibits P-glycoprotein. Theoretically, using rhodiola with P-glycoprotein substrates might increase drug levels and potentially increase the risk of adverse effects.
Antidepressant Drugs
Theoretically, rhodiola might increase the risk of adverse effects when taken with antidepressants.
A review of adverse event reports in Poland identified cases of tachyarrhythmias, myalgia, arthralgia, gum pain, restless leg syndrome, swallowing disorders, and changes in consciousness when rhodiola was taken in combination with paroxetine, escitalopram, fluoxetine, sertraline, trazodone, and/or duloxetine.
Cns Depressants
Theoretically, rhodiola might increase the risk of adverse effects when taken with CNS depressants.
A review of adverse event reports in Poland identified cases of excessive sedation, myoclonus, hypotension, and hallucinations when rhodiola was taken with haloperidol, diazepam, or alprazolam.
Cytochrome P450 1A2 (Cyp1A2) Substrates
Theoretically, rhodiola might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP1A2.
In vitro research shows that rhodiola inhibits CYP1A2. This effect is highly variable and appears to be dependent on the rhodiola product studied. However, a clinical study in healthy young males found that taking rhodiola extract 290 mg daily for 14 days does not inhibit the metabolism of caffeine, a CYP1A2 substrate.
Cytochrome P450 3A4 (Cyp3A4) Substrates
Theoretically, rhodiola might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4.
In vitro research shows that rhodiola inhibits CYP3A4. This effect is highly variable and appears to be dependent on the rhodiola product studied. However, a clinical study in healthy young males found that taking rhodiola extract 290 mg daily for 14 days does not inhibit the metabolism of midazolam, a CYP3A4 substrate.
Damiana
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, taking damiana with antidiabetes drugs might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
Animal research shows that taking damiana lowers blood glucose level.
