What’s inside
Full disclosure
Elon R3 Extra Strength contains 4 active ingredients. Silicon dioxide is a form of silicon, a mineral found naturally in plants and water.
Biotin is a B vitamin your body uses to break down food for energy and maintain healthy skin and hair. Fish collagen peptides are a protein derived from fish, added as a dietary protein source.
L-cysteine hydrochloride is an amino acid — a building block of protein — supplied in a supplemental form. The tablet also contains inactive ingredients (binders, fillers, and capsule materials): dicalcium phosphate, hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, stearic acid, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, titanium dioxide, triacetin, and natural flavor.
Does it work?
Strong evidence
The evidence for this product's ingredients is mixed. Silicon is possibly effective for osteoporosis, but evidence for its use in hair loss (androgenic alopecia) and other conditions is insufficient.
Biotin is likely effective for biotin deficiency, but evidence suggests it is possibly ineffective for multiple sclerosis and seborrheic dermatitis; evidence for alopecia areata is insufficient. Fish collagen peptides are possibly effective for aging and dry skin, but possibly ineffective for muscle strength; evidence for acne and athletic performance is insufficient.
L-cysteine has insufficient evidence for hair loss, leg ulcers, hangover, stroke, and gastritis. Overall, the strongest claim the ingredients carry is for biotin deficiency and silicon for osteoporosis.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Silicon dioxide, biotin, and fish collagen peptides are generally well tolerated. Silicon is generally well tolerated at the amounts found in food and supplements, though long-term safety at high doses is not well studied.
Biotin is safe even at fairly high doses because excess is removed through urine; only rare mild diarrhea has been reported at very high doses. Fish collagen peptides may rarely cause nausea, indigestion, diarrhea, or bloating.
L-cysteine is generally well tolerated in food amounts, but long-term safety of supplement doses is not well studied. For pregnancy and breastfeeding: silicon dioxide and biotin are rated likely safe in normal amounts.
Fish collagen peptides have not been well studied in pregnancy or breastfeeding — talk with your doctor before using if you're pregnant or nursing. L-cysteine is rated likely safe in pregnancy and lactation, though data are limited.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
If you take antidiabetes drugs (medications for diabetes or low blood sugar), check with your doctor or pharmacist before starting this product — L-cysteine may theoretically increase the risk of low blood sugar. For all other medications, no interactions are documented for the ingredients we could check, though that is not a guarantee none exist.

The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with clinical evidence supporting its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Elon R3 Extra Strength is a four-ingredient supplement combining silicon, biotin, fish collagen, and L-cysteine for hair, skin, and possibly bone health. If you take diabetes medication, check with your doctor or pharmacist before starting, because L-cysteine may theoretically lower blood sugar further.
The evidence for most conditions is weak or mixed; biotin deficiency and osteoporosis have the strongest support. Talk it over with your doctor or pharmacist to see if it's right for you.
