What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: reishi fruiting body extract at 1,000 mg per dose. Reishi is a mushroom that's been used in traditional medicine for centuries.
The liquid comes suspended in vegetable glycerin and purified water as inactive ingredients.
Does it work?
Not established
The evidence for reishi's effectiveness is mixed and incomplete. For high cholesterol (hyperlipidemia), it appears possibly ineffective based on available data.
For other uses—altitude sickness, Alzheimer's disease, and athletic performance—we don't have enough reliable evidence to say whether it works or not.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Reishi is generally well tolerated over the short term, but long-term safety hasn't been well studied. The most common side effects are dizziness, dry mouth, itching, nausea, rash, and stomach upset.
Some people have reported sore throat and runny nose, and rarely, insomnia or headache. Respiratory allergy to reishi spores can also occur.
The safety data advises against use during pregnancy and while breastfeeding because there isn't enough information to know it's safe in those situations.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before taking this product, check with your doctor or pharmacist if you're on blood pressure medication, blood thinners (including aspirin), or diabetes drugs. All three interact with reishi at Moderate severity.
Use the medication checker on this page to search your exact medications.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no established evidence rating for its marketed use. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Reishi may be worth considering if you're interested in traditional mushroom supplements and don't take blood pressure, blood-thinning, or diabetes medications. If you do take any of those, or have any chronic condition, talk it over with your doctor or pharmacist first—they can weigh whether it's right for you and watch for side effects or interactions with your specific regimen.

Reishi Fruiting Body 1,000 mg by Nature's Answer Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Nature's Answer Reishi Fruiting Body 1,000 mg does interact with several medication types.
The reishi extract can lower blood pressure; if you're already taking blood pressure medication (antihypertensives), combining them might push your pressure too low. At higher doses—this product is 1,000 mg—reishi may also thin your blood, raising bleeding risk if you're on blood thinners (anticoagulants) or antiplatelet drugs like aspirin.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Reishi can affect blood sugar as well. While animal research shows it lowers glucose, human studies in type 2 diabetes haven't been consistent.
If you take diabetes medication (antidiabetes drugs), there's a theoretical risk of the two working together too hard and dropping your blood sugar too far.
Altogether, these interactions span 375 individual medications. Before you start this product, run your current medications through the interaction checker on this page—especially anything for blood pressure, blood clotting, or blood sugar.

For each ingredient in Reishi Fruiting Body 1,000 mg with known interactions, here are the types of medications it can affect. Open any type for the detail — or search your exact drug in the checker above.
Reishi fruiting body extract
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, high doses of reishi mushroom might increase the risk of bleeding.
A dose of 1.5 grams daily of reishi mushroom does not seem to decrease platelet aggregation, but a higher dose of 3 grams daily does.
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, reishi mushroom might have additive effects with antidiabetes drugs.
Animal research suggests that reishi mushroom decreases blood sugar. However, in patients with type 2 diabetes, taking reishi mushroom does not reduce fasting glucose levels, and its effects on glycated hemoglobin are inconsistent.
Antihypertensive Drugs
Theoretically, concurrent use of reishi mushroom with antihypertensive drugs might increase the risk of hypotension.
Reishi mushroom has shown hypotensive activity in animal research. Clinical evidence suggests that reishi mushroom reduces blood pressure in some, but not all, patients with hypertension.
