Reishi Ingredients & Drug Interactions
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Reishi against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: reishi mushroom, a fungus traditionally used in herbal medicine. Reishi comes as a powder, so you're getting the mushroom material itself with no other active components added.
Does it work?
Not established
The evidence on reishi is mixed. For high cholesterol (hyperlipidemia), the data suggests it's possibly ineffective — meaning we don't have good evidence it works for that purpose.
For altitude sickness, Alzheimer disease, and athletic performance, there isn't enough reliable evidence to say whether it helps or not.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Reishi mushroom is generally well tolerated when taken by mouth short-term. The most common side effects are mild — dizziness, dry mouth, itching, nausea, rash, and stomach upset.
Some people may experience respiratory allergy to reishi spores, with sore throat and runny nose, and rare cases of insomnia and headache have been reported. Not enough safety data exists for pregnancy or breastfeeding, so the data advises against use during both.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before taking this product, check with us if you're on blood thinners or antiplatelet drugs (especially at higher doses of reishi), blood pressure medications, or diabetes drugs. These are the medication types most likely to be affected.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no established evidence rating for its marketed use. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Reishi may be worth considering if you're interested in herbal immune or stress support and have no blood pressure, blood-thinning, or diabetes medications. If you take any of those drugs, or if you're pregnant or breastfeeding, talk with your pharmacist before starting — there are real interaction concerns and safety gaps we need to address together.

Reishi by Exploding Buds Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Reishi by Exploding Buds may interact with several classes of blood pressure and blood-thinning medications, as well as diabetes drugs.
The most serious concern is with blood thinners (anticoagulant and antiplatelet drugs) — at higher doses, reishi may increase bleeding risk, though a standard 1.5 gram daily dose doesn't seem to have this effect.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Reishi can also lower blood pressure, so if you're on antihypertensive medications, taking it together might push your pressure too low. Similarly, reishi may work with diabetes drugs to lower blood sugar more than expected, though the evidence in actual patients is mixed — animal studies show a bigger effect than what we see in people taking it for type 2 diabetes.
Although reishi is generally well tolerated short-term, long-term safety data is limited. If you take any medications for blood pressure, blood clotting, or diabetes, run them through the checker below before you start this product.
Altogether, these interactions span 372 individual medications.

Reishi
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, high doses of reishi mushroom might increase the risk of bleeding.
A dose of 1.5 grams daily of reishi mushroom does not seem to decrease platelet aggregation, but a higher dose of 3 grams daily does.
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, reishi mushroom might have additive effects with antidiabetes drugs.
Animal research suggests that reishi mushroom decreases blood sugar. However, in patients with type 2 diabetes, taking reishi mushroom does not reduce fasting glucose levels, and its effects on glycated hemoglobin are inconsistent.
Antihypertensive Drugs
Theoretically, concurrent use of reishi mushroom with antihypertensive drugs might increase the risk of hypotension.
Reishi mushroom has shown hypotensive activity in animal research. Clinical evidence suggests that reishi mushroom reduces blood pressure in some, but not all, patients with hypertension.
