Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: reishi mushroom at 1,500 mg per dose. Reishi is a fungus traditionally used in herbal medicine.
The capsule itself is made from pullulan and contains potassium chloride, carrageenan, and vegetable magnesium stearate as inactive ingredients.
Does it work?
Couldn't assess
The evidence for reishi mushroom is mixed and depends on what you're using it for. For high cholesterol (hyperlipidemia), it's rated possibly ineffective — the data we hold suggests it doesn't do much.
For altitude sickness, Alzheimer disease, and athletic performance, there isn't enough reliable evidence yet to know whether it works. If you're considering this for one of those conditions, talk with your doctor about whether the evidence supports it for your situation.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Reishi mushroom is generally well tolerated in the short term, but long-term safety hasn't been well studied. The most common side effects are dizziness, dry mouth, itching, nausea, rash, and stomach upset.
Some people can have respiratory allergies to reishi spores, with symptoms like sore throat and runny nose. Rare side effects include insomnia and headache.
Because there isn't enough safety data, reishi is best avoided during pregnancy and while breastfeeding — talk with your doctor or pharmacist about this if either applies to you.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before taking this product, double-check with your doctor or pharmacist if you take blood thinners (like warfarin), blood pressure medications, or diabetes drugs. All three have Moderate interactions with reishi mushroom.
These interactions are documented in our data for this ingredient.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Reishi mushroom may be worth considering if you're interested in traditional mushroom supplements and don't take blood thinners, blood pressure drugs, or diabetes medications. If you do take any of those, check with your doctor or pharmacist first — the interaction risk is real.
Long-term safety data is limited, so this is best used short-term and with professional guidance.

Reishi Mushroom 1,500 mg by Nutricost Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Reishi Mushroom 1,500 mg by Nutricost interacts with three major medication categories through its single active ingredient.
The most serious concern is with blood thinners (anticoagulant/antiplatelet drugs) — at higher doses, reishi may increase bleeding risk, though the 1.5 gram dose in this product hasn't shown that effect in studies.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Reishi also has Moderate interactions with blood pressure medications. It can lower blood pressure on its own, so taking it with drugs that do the same might push your pressure too low.
Additionally, diabetes medications (antidiabetes drugs) may have additive blood-sugar-lowering effects when combined with reishi, raising the theoretical risk of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia).
Alone, reishi mushroom was not independently checked for other drug interactions beyond these three categories. Altogether, these interactions span 375 individual medications.
Before you start this product, search your exact prescriptions in the tool on this page, and run the results by your doctor or pharmacist — especially if you take blood thinners, blood pressure drugs, or diabetes medication.

Reishi Mushroom
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, high doses of reishi mushroom might increase the risk of bleeding.
A dose of 1.5 grams daily of reishi mushroom does not seem to decrease platelet aggregation, but a higher dose of 3 grams daily does.
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, reishi mushroom might have additive effects with antidiabetes drugs.
Animal research suggests that reishi mushroom decreases blood sugar. However, in patients with type 2 diabetes, taking reishi mushroom does not reduce fasting glucose levels, and its effects on glycated hemoglobin are inconsistent.
Antihypertensive Drugs
Theoretically, concurrent use of reishi mushroom with antihypertensive drugs might increase the risk of hypotension.
Reishi mushroom has shown hypotensive activity in animal research. Clinical evidence suggests that reishi mushroom reduces blood pressure in some, but not all, patients with hypertension.
