What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Reishi Mushroom against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: certified organic Reishi extract, a preparation of the reishi mushroom (also called lingzhi). The liquid form includes vegetable palm glycerin and pharmaceutical-grade alcohol as inactive ingredients to deliver the extract.
Does it work?
Couldn't assess
The evidence for reishi's effectiveness is mixed. It's rated possibly ineffective for lowering cholesterol, so don't count on it for that purpose.
For other uses in our data — altitude sickness, Alzheimer's disease, and athletic performance — there isn't enough reliable evidence yet to know whether it works.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Reishi is generally well tolerated short-term, though long-term safety hasn't been well studied. The most common side effects reported are dizziness, dry mouth, itching, nausea, rash, and stomach upset.
Some people have had respiratory allergy to reishi spores, showing up as sore throat and runny nose. Rare reports include insomnia and headache.
The safety data advises against using reishi during pregnancy or while breastfeeding — there isn't enough information to know it's safe in either situation. Talk with your doctor or pharmacist before taking it if you're pregnant, nursing, or planning to become pregnant.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Check with your doctor or pharmacist before taking this if you're on any of these: blood pressure medications (antihypertensives), blood thinners or antiplatelet drugs like warfarin or aspirin, or diabetes medications. All three groups have documented Moderate interactions with reishi extract.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Reishi might be worth considering if you're looking into traditional mushroom supplements and want to explore it under professional guidance. But if you take blood pressure medication, blood thinners, or diabetes drugs, you'll need to check with your own doctor or pharmacist first — the interactions are real.
Pregnant and breastfeeding folks should also clear it with their healthcare provider before starting.

Reishi Mushroom by Hawaii Pharm Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Hawaii Pharm's Reishi Mushroom extract does interact with medications.
The main concern is with blood pressure drugs (antihypertensives) — reishi can lower blood pressure on its own, so taking it alongside your blood pressure medication could push your pressure too low.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
You'll also want to be careful if you take blood thinners or antiplatelet drugs (like warfarin or aspirin). At higher doses, reishi may increase bleeding risk.
And if you're on diabetes medication, reishi might add to the blood sugar-lowering effect — though the research here is mixed, it's worth watching for.
Each of these interactions is rated Moderate in severity. Altogether, these interactions span 375 individual medications.
Before you start reishi, run your exact medications through the search tool on this page.
