Reishi Mushroom Ingredients & Drug Interactions
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Reishi Mushroom against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: reishi mushroom, a fungus used in traditional medicine. The capsules also hold cellulose and magnesium stearate as inactive ingredients (binders and fillers).
Does it work?
Couldn't assess
The evidence for reishi is mixed and often limited. For high cholesterol (hyperlipidemia), it appears possibly ineffective based on available data.
For altitude sickness, Alzheimer's disease, and athletic performance, we don't have enough reliable evidence to rate whether it works. If you're considering reishi for a specific condition, talk with your pharmacist about what the evidence actually shows for your situation.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Reishi is generally well tolerated in the short term, though long-term safety hasn't been well studied. Common side effects include dizziness, dry mouth, itching, nausea, rash, and stomach upset.
Some people report sore throat, runny nose, or rarely insomnia and headache. Respiratory allergy to reishi spores can happen in sensitive people.
There isn't enough safety data during pregnancy or breastfeeding, so the data advises against use in both. Talk with your doctor or pharmacist about whether reishi is right for you if you're pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning either.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before taking this product, check if you're on blood thinners or antiplatelet drugs (like warfarin, aspirin, or clopidogrel) — reishi may increase bleeding risk at higher doses. Also double-check with your pharmacist if you take blood pressure medications or diabetes drugs; reishi may add to their effects.
Altogether, these interactions span 372 individual medications.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Reishi may be worth trying if you're looking for general wellness support and don't take blood pressure, diabetes, or blood thinner medications. If you're on any of those drugs, or if you have a history of bleeding problems or low blood pressure, check with your pharmacist before starting.
Long-term use is largely uncharted territory, so don't assume it's risk-free over months or years.

Reishi Mushroom
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, high doses of reishi mushroom might increase the risk of bleeding.
A dose of 1.5 grams daily of reishi mushroom does not seem to decrease platelet aggregation, but a higher dose of 3 grams daily does.
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, reishi mushroom might have additive effects with antidiabetes drugs.
Animal research suggests that reishi mushroom decreases blood sugar. However, in patients with type 2 diabetes, taking reishi mushroom does not reduce fasting glucose levels, and its effects on glycated hemoglobin are inconsistent.
Antihypertensive Drugs
Theoretically, concurrent use of reishi mushroom with antihypertensive drugs might increase the risk of hypotension.
Reishi mushroom has shown hypotensive activity in animal research. Clinical evidence suggests that reishi mushroom reduces blood pressure in some, but not all, patients with hypertension.
