Every active ingredient lists its own amount on the label.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 1 of its 1 active ingredient.
  • No proprietary blends here — you can verify the dose of every single component.

Reishi SAP contains one active ingredient: reishi mushroom. The capsule itself includes vegetable-based inactive ingredients — magnesium stearate, hypromellose, and purified water — that help form and preserve the supplement.

Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed
Not established

The graded evidence we hold for these ingredients covers different conditions than the ones this product is marketed for, so there's no established rating for its stated use — see Reishi Mushroom's own graded uses on its monograph.

Why this rating?
  • The label markets this product for: adaptogen for energy, stress relief, immune and liver health.
  • We looked for evidence on: Stress, Insomnia, Chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS), Psychological well-being, Influenza, Hyperlipidemia — and 4 related terms.
  • The closest evidence on file: Reishi Mushroom is rated "Possibly Ineffective" for Hyperlipidemia (Natural Medicines).
  • Also on file: Reishi Mushroom is rated "Insufficient Reliable Evidence To Rate" for Cardiovascular disease (CVD), Chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS), Influenza, Insomnia, and more.

The evidence for reishi mushroom is limited. It's rated possibly ineffective for high cholesterol (hyperlipidemia).

For altitude sickness, Alzheimer's disease, and athletic performance, we don't have enough reliable evidence to rate whether it works. If you're considering reishi for one of those uses, your best bet is to talk with your pharmacist about what the current research actually shows.

How safe is it?

Well-documented data
Safety Information · database check
Well characterized

Adverse-effect, pregnancy, and general safety data are on file for most of these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 1 of the 1 matched ingredient.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 1 of 1.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 1 of 1.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

Reishi mushroom is generally well tolerated in the short term, though long-term safety hasn't been thoroughly studied. Common side effects include dizziness, dry mouth, itching, nausea, rash, and stomach upset.

Some people report sore throat, runny nose, or respiratory allergy to reishi spores. Rare effects include insomnia and headache.

There isn't enough safety data for use during pregnancy or while breastfeeding, so it's best avoided in those situations. If you're pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or nursing, talk with your doctor or pharmacist before taking this product.

Moderate interaction found
Known Interaction Concern · database check
Moderate identified

The most serious documented interaction for these ingredients is Moderate. Check your medications for a personalized result.

Why this rating?
  • 1 of the 1 matched ingredient can interact with medications — Reishi Mushroom.
  • The most serious interaction on file is rated Moderate.
  • Some involve high-stakes drug classes: anticoagulant / antiplatelet drugs; diabetes medications.
  • For scale: 375 individual medications appear in the full list. A big number alone doesn't make a product dangerous — what matters is whether YOUR medication is on it, so run yours through the interaction checker on this page.

Before taking Reishi SAP, double-check with your pharmacist if you're on blood thinners (anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs) — higher doses may increase bleeding risk. Blood pressure medications and diabetes drugs also need a second look, since reishi can lower both blood pressure and blood sugar.

The interaction tool on this page will flag your specific prescriptions.
