ReliefBiotic IB Ingredients & Drug Interactions
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking ReliefBiotic IB against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

HelloPharmacist Scorecard of ReliefBiotic IB by Natural Factors
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
ReliefBiotic IB contains four active probiotic ingredients — Lactobacillus rhamnosus, Enterococcus faecium, Lactobacillus helveticus, and Bacillus subtilis — all delivered in a capsule form. Probiotics are beneficial live bacteria intended to support digestive health.
The product also contains inactive ingredients including potato starch, lactose, a vegetarian capsule, whey powder, magnesium stearate, and ascorbic acid.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The evidence for these probiotics is mixed and in many cases limited. Bacillus subtilis has been rated Possibly Effective for antibiotic-associated diarrhea — the most established use in this product.
For the other conditions we have data on — including hay fever, cognitive function, depression, and various types of diarrhea — the evidence for these ingredients is not strong enough to rate them reliably. The effectiveness information we hold for Lactobacillus rhamnosus and Enterococcus faecium is not established in our data.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Lactobacillus helveticus and Bacillus subtilis are generally well tolerated in healthy people, though the data is limited. Both come with cautions: people who are seriously ill or immunocompromised should check with their doctor first, and you should do the same before starting if you have any health concerns.
In rare cases, diarrhea or headache has been reported. Because these are live microorganisms, there is a theoretical concern — documented in case reports — that they could cause serious infection in certain patients, particularly those with weakened immunity; this is uncommon but something to discuss with your doctor if you're in that category.
Pregnancy and lactation safety data are not on file for these ingredients, so talk with your pharmacist or doctor before use if you're pregnant or nursing.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Antibiotic drugs are the main concern — Moderate severity. Because these are live-organism probiotics, antibiotics can kill them and reduce how well the product works.
Space the two apart and ask your pharmacist how long to wait between doses.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
ReliefBiotic IB is a four-strain probiotic that may help with antibiotic-associated diarrhea, though evidence is strongest for one ingredient. The main thing to watch is timing it away from antibiotic medications.
If you're seriously ill, immunocompromised, pregnant, or nursing, check with your doctor first. Always run your full medication list through our checker before you start.

ReliefBiotic IB by Natural Factors Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
ReliefBiotic IB by Natural Factors contains four active ingredients, two of which we could not check for interactions.
The two we did check — Lactobacillus helveticus and Bacillus subtilis — both interact with antibiotic drugs (Moderate severity). Since these are live microorganisms, taking them at the same time as antibiotics might kill enough of the bacteria that the probiotic becomes less effective.
You'll want to space them apart — your pharmacist or doctor can tell you the right timing for your situation.

We hold no interaction data for Lactobacillus rhamnosus or Enterococcus faecium, so we cannot tell you whether they interact with any medications. Altogether, these interactions span 182 individual medications.

For each ingredient in ReliefBiotic IB with known interactions, here are the types of medications they can affect. Open any type for the detail — or search your exact drug in the checker above.
Lactobacillus helveticus (R0052)
Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking Lactobacillus helveticus with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of L. helveticus.
Lactobacillus helveticus preparations usually contain live and active organisms. Therefore, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and L. helveticus preparations by at least two hours.
Bacillus subtilis (R0179)
Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking Bacillus subtilis with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of B. subtilis.
Since B. subtilis preparations usually contain live and active organisms, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and B. subtilis preparations by at least 2 hours.
