Every active ingredient lists its own amount on the label.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 4 of its 4 active ingredients.
  • No proprietary blends here — you can verify the dose of every single component.

Replete Intensive contains four active ingredients: Fructooligosaccharides (a prebiotic fiber that feeds beneficial bacteria), Lactobacillus salivarius, Bifidobacterium, and Lactobacillus acidophilus (three probiotic strains of live beneficial bacteria). These work together — the fiber helps the bacteria thrive, and the bacteria aim to support digestive and immune health.

The inactive ingredients include apricot powder and the probiotics themselves in their non-active form.

Moderate evidence
Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed
Moderate

Some clinical evidence supports this product's ingredients for its stated purpose, but it isn't conclusive.

Why this rating?
  • The label markets this product for: Digestive and gut health support.
  • We looked for evidence on: Antibiotic-associated diarrhea, Bacterial vaginosis, Clostridioides difficile infection, Colic, Constipation, Helicobacter pylori — and 4 related terms.
  • The strongest evidence on file: Lactobacillus Acidophilus is rated "Possibly Effective" for Antibiotic-associated diarrhea (Natural Medicines).
  • Also on file: Lactobacillus Acidophilus is rated "Possibly Effective" for Bacterial vaginosis, Helicobacter pylori, Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).
  • Also on file: Fructo-oligosaccharides (fos) is rated "Insufficient Reliable Evidence To Rate" for Constipation.

The evidence for what this product does rests mainly on Lactobacillus acidophilus, which is possibly effective for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), Helicobacter pylori infection, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, and bacterial vaginosis. For the other ingredients, the data we hold doesn't establish their effectiveness — Fructooligosaccharides have insufficient evidence for osteoporosis, constipation, diabetes, travelers' diarrhea, and high cholesterol, and we don't have effectiveness data on file for Lactobacillus salivarius or Bifidobacterium.

How safe is it?

Well-documented data
Safety Information · database check
Well characterized

Adverse-effect, pregnancy, and general safety data are on file for most of these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 2 of the 2 matched ingredients.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 2 of 2.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 2 of 2.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

Lactobacillus acidophilus is generally well tolerated in healthy adults and children. When taken orally with other probiotics (as in this blend), it may cause uncommon gastrointestinal side effects like stomach discomfort, abdominal pain, indigestion, gas, bloating, diarrhea, vomiting, or burping.

Fructooligosaccharides are generally well tolerated in food amounts, but at higher supplement doses they commonly cause gas, bloating, and abdominal pain — though a review of studies found these didn't happen more often than placebo at doses under 15 grams daily. Because supplement-level safety data is limited, talk with your doctor before use, especially if you have a weakened immune system or serious infection risk.

Why this rating?
  • 1 of the 2 matched ingredients can interact with medications — Lactobacillus Acidophilus.
  • The most serious interaction on file is rated Moderate.

The bottom line

Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.

This product may help with IBS, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, or bacterial vaginosis if you're looking for probiotic support. If you take antibiotics, space them at least a few hours apart from this supplement so the antibiotics don't kill off the live bacteria.

Talk with your pharmacist before starting, particularly if you have any serious infections or a compromised immune system.

Antibiotic Drugs

Theoretically, taking Lactobacillus acidophilus with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of L. acidophilus.
L. acidophilus preparations usually contain live and active organisms. Therefore, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and L. acidophilus preparations by at least two hours.

Replete Intensive by BioCare: Common Questions

Does Replete Intensive by BioCare interact with any medications?
Yes. Based on its ingredients, Replete Intensive has a known interaction with 182 medications. Use the checker to see how it interacts with a specific drug.
How can one product interact with so many drugs?
Replete Intensive contains 4 active ingredients, and an interaction can come from any of them. We check every ingredient, combine the results into one list per medication, and show which ingredient and mechanism is responsible.
Where does this information come from?
The product label data comes from the NIH Dietary Supplement Label Database (DSLD); the interaction data is built on the Natural Medicines database and reviewed by HelloPharmacist pharmacists.
Will this help my IBS?
Lactobacillus acidophilus, one of the probiotics in here, is possibly effective for IBS. The other strains and the prebiotic fiber don't have solid evidence one way or another in our data. Whether it'll help you is individual, so give it a fair trial and let your doctor know if you see a shift.
What's Fructooligosaccharides — is it a probiotic?
No, it's a prebiotic fiber — basically food for the bacteria. It's not a live organism itself, but it feeds the probiotics so they can do their job better.
Can I take this while I'm on antibiotics?
Yes, but timing matters. Take your antibiotic and this supplement a few hours apart so the antibiotic doesn't kill off the live bacteria in the powder. Ask your pharmacist for the best spacing for your specific antibiotic.
Will this give me gas or bloating?
Possibly. The Fructooligosaccharides can cause gas, bloating, and stomach pain, especially if you take a high dose — though studies show these don't happen more often than placebo at lower amounts. The probiotics may also cause mild gas or bloating. Start low and increase gradually to see how you tolerate it.
Is this safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?
We don't have safety data on file for these specific ingredients during pregnancy or lactation. Talk with your doctor or midwife before taking it to see if it's right for you personally.
