Resveratrol Ingredients & Drug Interactions
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Resveratrol against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains just one active ingredient: resveratrol, a polyphenol found naturally in red grapes, red wine, and berries. There are no inactive ingredients listed.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The evidence for resveratrol is mixed and modest. It's rated possibly effective for obesity and allergic rhinitis (hay fever), meaning some human data supports benefit but more research is needed.
For cardiovascular disease and high cholesterol (hypercholesterolemia), the evidence suggests it is possibly ineffective—in other words, the data we have don't show clear benefit for those uses.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Resveratrol is generally well tolerated at typical supplement doses. At higher doses, the most common side effects are digestive—diarrhea, gastrointestinal discomfort, and loose stools.
A few people in trials reported headache, fatigue, or memory loss, though a direct link wasn't established, and one case of a skin rash was reported and resolved after stopping the supplement. Long-term safety at high doses is not fully known, so caution is warranted with prolonged use at large amounts.
For pregnancy: the safety data advises against using concentrated resveratrol supplements during pregnancy—there isn't enough information to know it's safe. For breastfeeding: avoid supplement use while breastfeeding, as there's insufficient safety information.
Talk with your doctor or pharmacist about whether this supplement is right for you in either situation.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before starting resveratrol, double-check your medications using the tool on this page. The biggest concern is blood thinners and antiplatelet drugs—resveratrol may increase bleeding risk.
It may also raise levels of drugs your liver breaks down via the CYP2C19, CYP1A2, CYP2E1, and CYP3A4 pathways, though this is mostly theoretical in humans. Check your exact medications.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with some supporting evidence behind its ingredients' uses. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Resveratrol may help with weight management or hay fever symptoms, but the evidence is modest. If you take blood thinners, antiplatelet drugs, or medications metabolized by the liver, check with us first—resveratrol could affect how your body processes them.
It's generally well tolerated at normal doses, though high amounts may cause digestive upset. Avoid it in pregnancy and while breastfeeding.

Resveratrol monograph & interactionsResveratrol by BulkSupplements.com Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Resveratrol by BulkSupplements.com has documented interactions with several medication types, though most are theoretical—observed in lab work but not yet confirmed in people taking the supplement.
The most significant concern is with blood thinners and antiplatelet drugs (like warfarin or aspirin), because resveratrol appears to have mild blood-thinning effects of its own, which could raise your bleeding risk if combined.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Resveratrol may also slow how your body clears drugs processed through several liver pathways (CYP2C19, CYP1A2, CYP2E1, and CYP3A4 enzymes), potentially raising their levels in your bloodstream. These interactions remain mostly theoretical—lab studies suggest the effect, but human trials haven't confirmed it in real-world use.
The one exception is CYP3A4: a clinical study showed that even high-dose resveratrol (3,000 mg daily for 8 weeks) did not change how CYP3A4 medications work, so dose adjustments were not needed.
Although resveratrol itself is just one ingredient, the medications it may interact with span 812 individual drugs across these categories. Please use the medication checker below to see if any of your prescriptions or over-the-counter drugs fall into these pathways, especially blood thinners.

Resveratrol
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Resveratrol may have antiplatelet effects and may increase the risk of bleeding if used with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs.
Resveratrol seems to have antiplatelet effects.
Cytochrome P450 1A2 (Cyp1A2) Substrates
Theoretically, resveratrol might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP1A2.
In vitro research shows that resveratrol can inhibit CYP1A2 enzymes. However, this interaction has not been reported in humans.
Cytochrome P450 2C19 (Cyp2C19) Substrates
Theoretically, resveratrol might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2C19.
In vitro research shows that resveratrol can inhibit CYP2C19 enzymes. However, this interaction has not been reported in humans.
Cytochrome P450 2E1 (Cyp2E1) Substrates
Resveratrol might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2E1.
In vitro research suggests that resveratrol inhibits CYP2E1 isoenzyme. Also, a pharmacokinetic study shows that taking resveratrol 500 mg daily for 10 days prior to taking a single dose of chlorzoxazone 250 mg increases the maximum concentration of chlorzoxazone by about 54%, the area under the curve of chlorzoxazone by about 72%, and the half-life of chlorzoxazone by about 35%. Chlorzoxazone is used as a probe drug for CYP2E1.
Cytochrome P450 3A4 (Cyp3A4) Substrates
Theoretically, resveratrol might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4.
In vitro research shows that resveratrol can inhibit the CYP3A4 enzyme. However, clinical research shows that taking resveratrol 3000 mg daily for 8 weeks does not necessitate dose adjustments to medications metabolized by CYP3A4.
