Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: elderberry, a fruit extract that's been used traditionally to support various aspects of health. The liquid form includes inactive ingredients like fructose, purified water, glycerin, natural flavors, malic acid, and potassium sorbate — these are fillers and preservatives that help the product stay stable and taste good.
Does it work?
Couldn't assess
The evidence for elderberry isn't strong enough to establish that it works for the conditions studied so far. The data we hold shows insufficient reliable evidence for allergic rhinitis (hay fever), cardiovascular disease, chronic fatigue syndrome, COPD, cognitive function, and lower respiratory tract infections.
That doesn't mean it doesn't work — it means the research hasn't built a solid case yet.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Properly prepared elderberry products from ripe fruit are generally well tolerated. The main risk comes from raw or unripe berries, leaves, bark, and seeds, which contain a compound that breaks down into something toxic and can cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, weakness, dizziness, and other effects — but cooking eliminates this toxin, and this product is a prepared extract, so that's not a concern here.
One rare case report linked long-term elderberry use to autoimmune hepatitis (liver inflammation), so anyone with an underlying autoimmune condition should discuss it with their doctor first. There isn't enough reliable safety information to recommend elderberry during pregnancy or breastfeeding, so talk with your doctor or pharmacist if you're pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or nursing before starting this supplement.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before starting this supplement, have your doctor or pharmacist review your medications if you take pazopanib (Votrient) or any immunosuppressant drugs. These are the two drug categories with documented moderate interactions with elderberry.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Elderberry may be worth considering if you're interested in traditional immune support, but the evidence for specific conditions hasn't been proven yet. If you take pazopanib, immunosuppressant drugs, or have an underlying autoimmune disease, talk with your doctor or pharmacist before adding this product — and check your exact medications with the tool on this page.

Sambucus Berry Flavored by Integrative Therapeutics Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Sambucus Berry Flavored by Integrative Therapeutics does interact with medications, primarily through its elderberry content.
The most serious concern is with pazopanib (Votrient), a cancer medication — elderberry may increase the risk of adverse effects, and one patient taking pazopanib developed severe nausea, loose stools, and liver injury when elderberry was added to their regimen.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Elderberry also has moderate interactions with immunosuppressant drugs (medications that dampen your immune system, used after transplants or for certain autoimmune conditions). Because elderberry stimulates immune activity, it could theoretically interfere with how well these drugs work.
Altogether, these interactions span 121 individual medications. If you take pazopanib, any immunosuppressant, or any other prescription medication, run the specific names through the checker on this page before you start this supplement.
