Saw palmetto is generally well tolerated, and side effects tend to be mild and reversible. The most common ones are abdominal pain, constipation, diarrhea, dizziness, headache, nausea, and fatigue.

Rarely, cases of skin reactions (fixed drug eruptions with blisters), heart rhythm changes, and blood pressure shifts have been reported. Avoid saw palmetto during pregnancy because of possible hormonal effects and lack of safety data.
