Saw palmetto is generally well tolerated in adults. The most common side effects are mild and reversible: abdominal pain, constipation, decreased libido, diarrhea, dizziness, fatigue, headache, nausea, rhinitis, and vomiting.

Rarely, a fixed drug eruption with blisters has been reported, and occasional cases of heart rhythm changes, high or low blood pressure, and chest pain have been noted — though these are uncommon. Do not use this product during pregnancy; the safety data advises against it because of possible hormonal effects and lack of safety information.

Similarly, avoid it while breastfeeding due to insufficient safety data.
