Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
Spinach Alcohol Free contains one active ingredient: spinach leaf extract (the dried form). The extract is suspended in a liquid base made with glycerin and water — common inactive ingredients that help deliver the extract in drinkable form.
Does it work?
Couldn't assess
The evidence we hold doesn't establish how well spinach extract works for any of the conditions studied — nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, cognitive function, muscle strength, obesity, or polycystic ovary syndrome. For each of these, the data shows insufficient reliable evidence to rate it.
That doesn't mean spinach doesn't help; it means the research we have isn't strong enough yet to say one way or another.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Spinach as a food is well tolerated by most people and is considered safe during pregnancy and breastfeeding. When taken as an extract liquid, spinach is generally well tolerated.
A small number of rare serious adverse effects have been reported: methemoglobinemia in infants under 4 months old and allergic reactions in sensitive individuals. Occupational asthma and contact dermatitis from spinach powder have also been documented in specific settings, though these are uncommon with normal oral use.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before you take this product, check with your doctor or pharmacist if you're on blood thinners like warfarin (Coumadin) — spinach interferes with how well they work and may need your dose adjusted. Also double-check if you're taking diabetes medications, since spinach may lower blood sugar and increase your risk of going too low.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Spinach Alcohol Free is a straightforward extract for people interested in spinach's nutritional profile. If you take blood thinners like warfarin or diabetes medications, talk with your doctor or pharmacist before starting — your doses may need adjustment.

Spinach Alcohol Free by Hawaii Pharm Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Spinach Alcohol Free by Hawaii Pharm contains spinach leaf extract, which interacts with two major medication types.
The most serious concern is with blood thinners like warfarin (Coumadin) — spinach is rich in vitamin K, which can reduce how well these drugs work. Even eating spinach with one meal doesn't usually throw your blood thinner levels off, but daily use for a week can require a dose adjustment of your medication.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Spinach also has a moderate interaction with diabetes medications. Research suggests spinach may lower blood sugar levels after meals, and combining it with your diabetes drug could theoretically lower your blood sugar too much.
If you take diabetes medication, monitor your blood glucose levels closely — your doctor may need to adjust your dose.
Altogether, these interactions span 88 individual medications. Use the medication checker below to search for your exact drugs before you start this product.

For each ingredient in Spinach Alcohol Free with known interactions, here are the types of medications it can affect. Open any type for the detail — or search your exact drug in the checker above.
Spinach Leaf Extract, Dry
Antidiabetes Drugs
There are claims that spinach leaves have hypoglycemic effects. Evidence from clinical research suggests that consumption of a spinach-rich meal reduces post-meal blood glucose levels. Theoretically, spinach might have additive effects with antidiabetes drugs and increase the risk of hypoglycemia. Monitor blood glucose levels closely. Dose adjustments might be necessary. Some antidiabetes drugs include glimepiride (Amaryl), glyburide (DiaBeta, Glynase PresTab, Micronase), insulin, pioglitazone (Actos), rosiglitazone (Avandia), and others.
Warfarin (Coumadin)
Spinach contains vitamin K, which can interfere with the activity of warfarin.
In human research, although eating spinach with one meal does not result in coagulation test results outside the therapeutic range, daily consumption for one week necessitates dose adjustment of warfarin. Individuals using anticoagulants should consume a consistent daily amount of spinach to maintain the effect of anticoagulant therapy.
