What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: phosphatidylserine (marketed as Sharp PS Green), a compound derived from sunflower seeds. The capsule also contains several inactive ingredients — medium-chain triglyceride oil, gelatin, glycerin, purified water, silicon dioxide, natural mixed tocopherols, and ascorbyl palmitate — which serve as the delivery system and preservatives.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
Phosphatidylserine is possibly effective for age-related cognitive decline and Alzheimer disease based on the evidence we hold. For athletic performance, ADHD, general cognitive function, and dementia, the evidence isn't established enough for us to rate it.
If you're considering it for one of those conditions, talk with your doctor or pharmacist about whether the research fits your situation.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Phosphatidylserine is generally well tolerated in studies, though long-term safety hasn't been fully established. The most common side effects are flatulence, gastrointestinal upset, headache, insomnia, and nausea — with gastrointestinal upset possible at doses around 200–300 mg/day and insomnia more likely at higher doses like 600 mg.
There isn't enough safety information to recommend this supplement during pregnancy, so avoidance is advised. Safety while breastfeeding is also unknown, so it's best to avoid it then too.
Talk with your doctor or pharmacist if you're pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before you start, check whether you take any anticholinergic drugs (like antihistamines or certain antispasmodics) or cholinergic drugs (like those for myasthenia gravis). Both are Moderate-severity interactions with phosphatidylserine.
Use the medication checker on this page to verify your exact medications.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Sunflower PS 100 mg may be worth considering if you have age-related cognitive decline or Alzheimer disease and want to explore a plant-based option. Formula
Healthy Origins Sunflower PS featuring Sharp PS Green is a unique, soy-free source of phosphatidylserine derived from European, Non-GMO sunflower lecithin.
Phosphatidylserine is a phospholipid compound found naturally in brain cell membranes, however, with advancing age, our natural phosphatidylserine levels can diminish, which may impact our cognitive abilities. Unfortunately, obtaining significant amounts of phosphatidylserine through our diet has proven to be quite difficult. Therefore, many individuals have chosen to take phosphatidylserine supplements. Supplementation with phosphatidylserine may help to replenish depressed levels of phosphatidylserine, enhance cognitive focus, nourish brain cell membranes and support healthy cognitive function.

Sunflower PS 100 mg by Healthy Origins Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Sunflower PS 100 mg by Healthy Origins contains phosphatidylserine, which has documented interactions with two medication types.
The most serious concern is with anticholinergic drugs (Moderate severity) — medications that block acetylcholine activity, like some antihistamines, antispasmodics, and certain antidepressants. Phosphatidylserine is thought to raise acetylcholine levels, which could theoretically reduce how well these drugs work.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Phosphatidylserine may also have additive effects with cholinergic drugs (Moderate severity) — medications that boost acetylcholine, like some drugs for myasthenia gravis or Alzheimer's. Combined with this supplement, you could experience stronger cholinergic effects than intended.
Altogether, these interactions span 218 individual medications. If you take any prescription medication, especially those affecting acetylcholine or nerve signaling, run it through the checker below before you start this supplement.
