This product contains three active ingredients. Biotin is a B vitamin that supports your metabolism and is the main active at 6000 mcg per dose.
Inositol is a carbohydrate your body uses to help regulate blood sugar and support cell function. Pantethine (as Pantesin) is a compound related to pantothenic acid that plays a role in fat metabolism.
The tablet also contains two inactive ingredients — dicalcium phosphate and cellulose — which help give the pill its shape and stability.
Does it work?
Strong evidence
Biotin is likely effective for treating biotin deficiency, though it's rarely deficient in people eating a normal diet. For other uses like hair loss (alopecia areata), seborrheic dermatitis, or multiple sclerosis, the evidence either points toward it being ineffective or is too thin to rate.
Inositol shows some promise for polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), metabolic syndrome, and preventing preterm labor, though the evidence is still developing. Pantethine may help with high cholesterol (hyperlipoproteinemia), but evidence for other uses like athletic performance or general high cholesterol is not yet established in the data we hold.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Biotin is generally well tolerated, even at high doses, because your body removes excess through urine. High-dose biotin has rarely been linked to mild diarrhea.
Inositol is generally well tolerated at typical doses, though it may cause diarrhea, gas, or nausea in some people. Pantethine is also generally well tolerated, but long-term safety data are limited; mild gastrointestinal side effects like nausea, diarrhea, bloating, and flatulence are the most common complaints.
For pregnancy and breastfeeding: biotin is likely safe, but the safety data for inositol and pantethine during pregnancy and lactation are not fully established — discuss high-dose biotin and these other ingredients with your doctor if you're pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding.
