HelloPharmacist Scorecard of SX-Fraction by Mushroom Wisdom
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
SX-Fraction contains 2 active ingredients, both forms of maitake mushroom (Grifola frondosa): a fruit body powder and a fruiting body extract. The tablet also includes several inactive ingredients—microcrystalline cellulose, dicalcium phosphate, calcium stearate, silicon dioxide, croscarmellose sodium, hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, and glycerin—which serve as binders, fillers, and flow agents to hold the tablet together.
Does it work?
Not established
The evidence we hold on maitake mushroom for the conditions listed—hay fever, chemotherapy-induced anemia, laryngeal cancer, chemotherapy-related diarrhea, and chronic fatigue syndrome—is not established. All are rated insufficient reliable evidence, meaning the research so far isn't solid enough to say whether this product works for them.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Maitake mushroom is generally well tolerated as a food, but safety data for concentrated supplements hasn't been fully studied. In clinical trials, a small number of participants reported stomach upset, including diarrhea, upper abdominal pain, and nausea.
One person experienced a rash and itching after two doses, which cleared on its own. The facts advise against using concentrated maitake supplements during pregnancy and while breastfeeding because there isn't enough safety data to know either way.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before taking SX-Fraction, check with your doctor or pharmacist if you're on blood thinners like warfarin (Coumadin), blood pressure medications, or diabetes drugs. Maitake mushroom may strengthen the effects of blood thinners and lower both blood pressure and blood sugar, potentially to unsafe levels.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no established evidence rating for its marketed use. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
SX-Fraction may be worth considering if you're interested in maitake mushroom, but it's not right for you if you take blood thinners, blood pressure medications, or diabetes drugs without a close conversation first. Stomach upset is the most common side effect.
Talk with your doctor or pharmacist before adding it to your routine, especially if you're pregnant, nursing, or on any prescription medications.

SX-Fraction by Mushroom Wisdom Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
SX-Fraction by Mushroom Wisdom contains maitake mushroom in two forms, and both carry documented interactions with three medication types.
The most serious concern is with blood thinners like warfarin (Coumadin) — maitake may increase their effect, raising your bleeding risk. A case report showed one person on warfarin developed an elevated clotting marker after taking maitake for just a week.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
You'll also want to watch blood pressure medications (antihypertensives) and diabetes drugs. Maitake can lower blood pressure on its own, so combining it with blood pressure-lowering medications might push your pressure too low.
Similarly, it may lower blood sugar, which could add up with diabetes medications and tip you into low blood sugar (hypoglycemia).
Altogether, these interactions span 260 individual medications. If you take any of these types of drugs—or any prescription medication—use the interaction checker on this page to see your specific medications before you start.

Maitake (Grifola frondosa) fruit body powder
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, combining maitake mushroom with antidiabetes drugs might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
Clinical research shows that taking maitake mushroom polysaccharide (MMP) can lower blood glucose levels in patients with types 2 diabetes.
Antihypertensive Drugs
Theoretically, combining maitake mushroom with antihypertensive drugs might increase the risk of hypotension.
Animal research shows that maitake mushroom can lower blood pressure.
Warfarin (Coumadin)
There is limited evidence that maitake mushroom may increase the anticoagulant effects of warfarin.
In a case report, a patient previously stabilized on warfarin developed an elevated international normalized ratio (INR) of 5.1 after taking maitake mushroom (Grifron-Pro Maitake D-Fraction) 1 drop/kg daily in three divided doses for one week. The elevated INR resolved after holding warfarin for two days, then reducing the dose by 11%. It is thought that the beta-glucan constituent of maitake mushroom might cause warfarin dissociation from proteins, resulting in increased free warfarin levels and increased warfarin effects.
