HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Tribulus by Herbal Hills
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: Gokshur fruit extract and powder blend — another name for tribulus fruit. Tribulus has been studied for sexual function and athletic performance.
The capsule itself is made from HPMC (a plant-based capsule material) and contains silicon dioxide as an inactive ingredient.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
Tribulus is rated possibly effective for sexual dysfunction based on available research. For athletic performance, the evidence suggests it's possibly ineffective.
As for benign prostatic hyperplasia (enlarged prostate), the data we hold isn't robust enough to rate it one way or the other.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Tribulus is generally well tolerated short-term in healthy adults, but long-term safety data and product quality vary widely. Serious side effects are rare but have been reported: liver and kidney injury, seizures, and prolonged painful erection.
More commonly, you might experience mild stomach upset — abdominal pain, cramping, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or constipation — though in one study these occurred at similar rates in both tribulus and placebo groups. One case of severe toxicity involved drinking 2 liters of tribulus water daily for two days and resulted in weakness, seizures, and kidney injury.
The safety data advises against use during pregnancy because it may affect hormones and safety isn't established. Avoid it while breastfeeding too, as there isn't enough reliable information to know it's safe.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Check your medications if you take blood pressure drugs, diabetes medications, or lithium before starting tribulus. All three interaction types are Moderate severity and could affect how your drugs work or your blood sugar and blood pressure control.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with some supporting evidence behind its ingredients' uses. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Tribulus may help with sexual dysfunction based on current evidence, though the research is still limited. If you take blood pressure medication, diabetes medication, or lithium, check with your pharmacist before starting — this product can interact with all three.
Long-term safety data are sparse, so this is best used short-term under guidance.

Tribulus by Herbal Hills Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Tribulus by Herbal Hills has documented interactions with several medication types.
The most serious concern is with blood pressure medications (antihypertensives) — tribulus can lower blood pressure on its own, and combining it with these drugs may cause your pressure to drop too much (hypotension). Similarly, if you take diabetes medications, tribulus may increase the risk of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) by further lowering your glucose levels.
Both interactions are rated Moderate severity.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Tribulus may also affect lithium levels. Because tribulus appears to have water-pill (diuretic) properties, it might reduce how your body clears lithium, raising the amount in your bloodstream and potentially requiring a dose adjustment.
Altogether, these interactions span 256 individual medications. Use the interaction checker below to look up your exact prescriptions before you start.
