Every active ingredient lists its own amount on the label.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 2 of its 2 active ingredients.
  • No proprietary blends here — you can verify the dose of every single component.

This product contains 2 active ingredients: potassium and chloride. Potassium is an electrolyte your body needs for heart rhythm, muscle function, and nerve signaling.

The product comes as a liquid concentrate. We hold no interaction data for chloride, so we cannot assess whether it affects any medications.

Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed
Not assessable

We hold no graded evidence for this product's ingredients for its stated purpose.

Why this rating?
  • The label markets this product for: electrolyte balance and mineral supplementation.
  • We looked for evidence on: hypokalemia, muscle function, blood pressure support.
  • Our graded evidence for these ingredients doesn't cover that particular purpose.

We hold no effectiveness ratings for potassium or chloride in the data on file for this product, so the evidence supporting its use isn't established here.

How safe is it?

Well-documented data
Safety Information · database check
Well characterized

Adverse-effect, pregnancy, and general safety data are on file for most of these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 1 of the 1 matched ingredient.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 1 of 1.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 1 of 1.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

Potassium from food is safe, but supplements can cause dangerously high blood levels — especially in people with kidney disease. Most people who take potassium by mouth tolerate it well, but common side effects include belly pain, belching, diarrhea, gas, nausea, and vomiting.

In rare cases, high potassium levels can trigger irregular heart rhythm, heart block, low blood pressure, or confusion. For pregnancy: dietary potassium is fine, but use supplements only under medical guidance.

For breastfeeding: dietary potassium is appropriate, but check with your doctor before using supplements.

Check with your pharmacist before using this product if you take potassium-sparing diuretics, ACE inhibitors (like lisinopril), or angiotensin receptor blockers (like losartan) — all carry a Moderate risk of dangerously high blood potassium when combined with potassium supplements.

The bottom line

Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.

This is a potassium supplement — so if you have kidney disease or take blood pressure medication (especially ACE inhibitors, ARBs, or potassium-sparing diuretics), you need to talk with your pharmacist or doctor first. High potassium can be serious.

If you have healthy kidneys and aren't on those medications, ask your pharmacist whether you need a supplement at all.

Formula

Potassium Potassium is one of the major electrolytes and minerals in the body. It is essential to all organisms and is the major cation (positively charged ions) in the cell cytoplasm with a wide variety of electrochemical and catalytic functions for enzyme systems. With sodium, the other "electrolyte," potassium participates in the maintenance of normal water balance, osmotic equilibrium and acid-base balance. Potassium participates with Calcium in the regulation of neuromuscular activity.

Ace Inhibitors (Aceis)

Using ACEIs with high doses of potassium increases the risk of hyperkalemia.
ACEIs block the actions of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system and reduce potassium excretion. Concomitant use of these drugs with potassium supplements increases the risk of hyperkalemia. However, concomitant use of these drugs with moderate dietary potassium intake (about 3775-5200 mg daily) does not increase serum potassium levels.

Likelihood Likely Evidence C
Angiotensin Receptor Blockers (Arbs)

Using ARBs with high doses of potassium increases the risk of hyperkalemia.
ARBs block the actions of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system and reduce potassium excretion. Concomitant use of these drugs with potassium supplements increases the risk of hyperkalemia. However, concomitant use of these drugs with moderate dietary potassium intake (about 3775-5200 mg daily) does not increase serum potassium levels.

Potassium-Sparing Diuretics

Ultimate Potassium Concentrate by Complete H2O Minerals: Common Questions

Does Ultimate Potassium Concentrate by Complete H2O Minerals interact with any medications?
Yes. Based on its ingredients, Ultimate Potassium Concentrate has a known interaction with 62 medications. Use the checker to see how it interacts with a specific drug.
How can one product interact with so many drugs?
Ultimate Potassium Concentrate contains 2 active ingredients, and an interaction can come from any of them. We check every ingredient, combine the results into one list per medication, and show which ingredient and mechanism is responsible.
Where does this information come from?
The product label data comes from the NIH Dietary Supplement Label Database (DSLD); the interaction data is built on the Natural Medicines database and reviewed by HelloPharmacist pharmacists.
Can I take this while I'm pregnant or breastfeeding?
Potassium from food is fine during both. For supplements, there isn't enough data to know either way — talk with your doctor or pharmacist for personalized advice rather than deciding on your own.
What are the side effects?
Most people have stomach troubles: belly pain, belching, diarrhea, gas, nausea, or vomiting. Rarely, too much potassium can cause irregular heartbeat, low blood pressure, or confusion — which is why high blood levels are dangerous.
Why is potassium dangerous if I take certain heart or blood pressure medicines?
ACE inhibitors, ARBs, and potassium-sparing diuretics all reduce how much potassium your kidneys normally clear out. Adding a supplement stacks potassium on top, raising the risk of dangerously high levels that can hurt your heart.
Is it safe if I have kidney disease?
No — potassium supplements can cause dangerously high blood levels in people with kidney disease. If you have kidney problems, talk with your doctor before taking any potassium supplement.
Do I actually need a potassium supplement?
That depends on your diet, medications, and kidney function — not something we can answer here. Your pharmacist or doctor can tell you whether a supplement makes sense for you.
