UltraBiotic 100 contains six active ingredients, all beneficial bacteria (probiotics). Lactobacillus acidophilus and Bifidobacterium bifidum are generally well tolerated in healthy adults and children. Uncommon side effects from L. acidophilus may include abdominal discomfort, bloating, flatulence, or diarrhea.

Bloating and flatulence can also occur with B. bifidum use. Because these are live organisms, there's a theoretical risk of serious infection in people with very weakened immune systems—check with your doctor before using if that applies to you.

Antibiotic Drugs

Theoretically, taking Lactobacillus acidophilus with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of L. acidophilus.
L. acidophilus preparations usually contain live and active organisms. Therefore, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and L. acidophilus preparations by at least two hours.
