by PlantFusion
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Vegan Complete Probiotic 35 Billion against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Vegan Complete Probiotic 35 Billion by PlantFusion
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
This product contains 10 active ingredients: four Bifidobacterium strains (B. longum, B. bifidum, B. lactis) and four Lactobacillus strains (L. salivarius, L. bulgaricus, L. acidophilus, L. rhamnosus, L. plantarum)—all live beneficial bacteria—plus FiberAid (larch arabinogalactan) and fructooligosaccharides (FOS), which are prebiotic fibers that feed the good bacteria. The inactive ingredients are cellulose, capsule material, silica, magnesium stearate, and calcium silicate.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
Evidence for most uses is limited. Lactobacillus acidophilus is rated possibly effective for irritable bowel syndrome, H. pylori infection, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, and bacterial vaginosis.
Bifidobacterium bifidum is also rated possibly effective for irritable bowel syndrome and respiratory tract infections. For all other uses listed in our data—including the cold, hay fever, asthma, anxiety, and cognitive decline—the evidence we hold is insufficient to rate whether this product works.
Talk with your doctor about what you're hoping to address.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
The checked probiotic strains are generally well tolerated in healthy people. However, caution is advised if you're seriously ill, immune-compromised, or have a weakened immune system, since there are rare documented cases of these bacteria causing bloodstream infection (bacteremia) or sepsis in critically ill patients, especially premature infants.
Gastrointestinal side effects—bloating, flatulence, abdominal discomfort, and constipation—have been reported rarely. Pregnancy and lactation data are limited; the safety information on file rates Bifidobacterium longum as possibly safe in pregnancy and lactation, but data for the other strains are not well studied, so check with your doctor or pharmacist before using while pregnant or breastfeeding.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before starting this product, check with your pharmacist if you take antibiotic drugs (Moderate interaction—separate timing is key) or immunosuppressants like cyclosporine, tacrolimus, or azathioprine (Moderate interaction with the larch arabinogalactan component). We couldn't check three of the probiotic strains for interactions, so mention all your medications when you ask.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This vegan probiotic may be worth considering if you have irritable bowel syndrome or are dealing with antibiotic-associated diarrhea, though evidence is stronger for some strains than others. If you take antibiotics or immunosuppressants, talk to your pharmacist about timing—you'll likely need to space out doses.
Anyone who's seriously ill or immunocompromised should get their doctor's clearance first.

Vegan Complete Probiotic 35 Billion by PlantFusion Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
PlantFusion Vegan Complete Probiotic 35 Billion contains several live bacterial strains that interact with antibiotic drugs.
The most serious concern is Moderate severity: all four checked probiotic species—Bifidobacterium longum, Lactobacillus bulgaricus, Bifidobacterium bifidum, and Lactobacillus acidophilus—may lose effectiveness if taken at the same time as antibiotics, because the antibiotics can kill the live organisms in the supplement.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Additionally, FiberAid (larch arabinogalactan) carries a Moderate interaction with immunosuppressants (drugs used after transplant or for autoimmune conditions), as it may theoretically interfere with how those medications work.
Three other probiotic strains in this product—Lactobacillus salivarius, Lactobacillus rhamnosus, and Bifidobacterium lactis—could not be checked because we hold no interaction data for them. The bottom line: if you're on antibiotics or immunosuppressants, separate the timing of this supplement from your medication and ask your pharmacist or doctor how long apart to take them.
Altogether, these interactions span 298 individual medications. Use the search tool on this page to check your specific prescriptions.

Bifidobacterium longum Bl-05
Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking Bifidobacterium longum with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of B. longum.
Since B. longum preparations usually contain live and active organisms, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and B. longum preparations by at least 2 hours.
