Witch hazel is a topical liquid commonly used as an astringent on skin. This over-the-counter monograph product is marketed under established FDA guidelines for its category rather than as an individually approved drug application. Witch hazel extract is typically used to help tone and tighten skin and may be applied to areas where a mild astringent effect is desired.
