simvastatin/ezetimibe falls under ORAL DRUGS — the group Activated Charcoal interacts with.

Activated charcoal reduces systemic exposure to many drugs, including those that undergo enterohepatic recirculation, regardless of the route of administration.
Activated charcoal adsorbs various drugs and may reduce their absorption and/or half-life. Examples of affected drugs include acetaminophen, aminophylline, amiodarone, atenolol, carbamazepine, dapsone, digoxin, disopyramide, fluoxetine, indomethacin, moxifloxacin, nadolol, phenytoin, phenobarbital, piroxicam, quinine, sotalol, theophylline, tricyclic antidepressants, valproate, and verapamil. Avoid co-administration, except after drug overdose.

Here's the simple version: activated charcoal acts like a sponge in your gut. It grabs onto many medicines you swallow before your body can absorb them. If you take your Vytorin (simvastatin/ezetimibe) too close to a charcoal dose, less of it gets into your bloodstream, so it may not lower your cholesterol the way it should. Ezetimibe is especially worth noting because it recycles through the gut and bile, which is exactly where charcoal can keep latching onto it.

This is mainly a timing problem, not a danger signal. The fix is usually spacing the two apart, but please let your pharmacist or doctor confirm the right gap before you change anything. Don't stop your cholesterol medicine on your own.
