Why this applies to Piroxicam

Piroxicam falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Algal Oil interacts with.

Theoretically, algal oil may increase the risk of bleeding if used with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs.
The risk of interaction is highest for algal oil containing high amounts (> 2 grams daily) of eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), or EPA and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). High doses of EPA or oils containing EPA and DHA can reduce platelet aggregation in humans. However, most algal oil contains very little EPA and larger amounts of DHA. While some conflicting evidence exist, most research shows that DHA alone does not affect blood clotting.

Here's the thing to know about pairing algal oil with piroxicam. Piroxicam is an NSAID, and like other NSAIDs it can already make your blood a little slower to clot. Omega-3 fats can do something similar in high amounts, so in theory stacking the two could nudge your bleeding risk up a bit. That might show up as easier bruising, nosebleeds, or stomach upset and bleeding, which piroxicam is already known for.

The good news is this is mostly a theoretical concern. Most algal oil is high in DHA and low in EPA, and DHA alone doesn't seem to thin the blood much. The risk really only climbs with large EPA doses (over about 2 grams daily). Still, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before starting.
