Your cough and cold combo (DA Chewable) contains dextromethorphan, which the body partly clears using a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. In a test-tube setting, American elder appears to slow this enzyme down. If that happened in real life, dextromethorphan could build up a bit, which might mean more drowsiness, dizziness, or feeling lightheaded.

Here's the honest part: this concern comes only from lab studies, not from people, so it's theoretical and likely mild. Normal food amounts of elderberry are unlikely to matter much. Concentrated elderberry supplements are more of a question mark. If you plan to use both, just check with your pharmacist or doctor first to be safe.
