Oseni combines two diabetes medicines (alogliptin and pioglitazone) that work to lower your blood sugar. Here's the thing with anise: a small study found that anise seed powder lowered fasting blood sugar quite a bit on its own. So if you're taking anise alongside Oseni, the two could add up and push your blood sugar lower than you want.

If that happens, you might notice signs of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) like shakiness, sweating, dizziness, hunger, or feeling lightheaded. Keep in mind this is largely theoretical, and a sprinkle of anise in food or an occasional cup of anise tea is unlikely to cause trouble. It's the concentrated supplement doses I'd watch. If you want to use anise regularly, check with your pharmacist or doctor first and keep an eye on your readings.
