Here's the thing to know about demeclocycline: it's a tetracycline antibiotic, and this whole drug family is well known for making your skin much more sensitive to sunlight. People taking it can sunburn faster and more severely than usual, even on cloudy days or after short time outside.

Some plants in the goosefoot family (which includes Arrach) have been linked to photosensitivity too. So the worry is simple: stacking Arrach on top of demeclocycline could, in theory, add to that sun-sensitivity and raise your risk of a bad burn or rash. I'll be honest though, this is a theoretical concern based on the plant's chemistry, not solid human studies. Either way, use good sun protection while on this antibiotic, and check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining the two.

Arrach (Chenopodium vulvaria) is a strong-smelling European herb that has been used in traditional folk medicine, mainly for menstrual and nervous complaints. There is very little modern scientific evidence to show that it works or is safe, so it is not recommended, especially during pregnancy or breastfeeding. About Demeclocycline

What Is Demeclocycline Used For?

Brand name: Declomycin

Demeclocycline Hydrochloride tablets are used to treat bacterial infections caused by susceptible organisms. These include Rocky Mountain spotted fever, typhus, Q fever, tick fevers, respiratory tract infections (including those caused by Mycoplasma pneumoniae), cholera, plague, tularemia, brucellosis, relapsing fever, chancroid, and sexually transmitted infections such as lymphogranuloma venereum, nongonococcal urethritis, and gonorrhea (when penicillin cannot be used).

It is also used for certain skin and skin structure infections, bartonellosis, granuloma inguinale, actinomycosis, listeriosis, anthrax (when penicillin is contraindicated), and as an adjunct in acute intestinal amebiasis. In severe acne, it may be used as part of combination therapy. It should only be used for infections that are proven or strongly suspected to be caused by bacteria that respond to it.
