Here's the simple version: this isn't about how your body breaks down amiodarone. Instead, it's about your skin. Amiodarone is already well known for making your skin much more sensitive to sunlight, so you can burn faster or even develop a bluish-gray tint with long-term use. Some plants in the goosefoot family (which includes arrach) have been linked to that same kind of sun sensitivity.

So in theory, pairing the two could stack up the photosensitivity and raise your odds of a bad sunburn or rash. I want to be honest though, this is a theoretical concern based on plant chemistry, not solid human studies. Arrach isn't recommended anyway, so please check with your pharmacist or doctor before using it, and keep up sunscreen and protective clothing while on amiodarone.

What Is Amiodarone Used For?

Amiodarone is prescribed for adults with serious, life-threatening heart-rhythm problems that haven't responded to other medications. Specifically, it's used for two dangerous arrhythmias (abnormal heartbeats): recurrent ventricular fibrillation (a chaotic, potentially fatal heart rhythm) and recurrent ventricular tachycardia (a dangerously fast heart rhythm that causes unstable blood pressure).

Because amiodarone comes with significant risks, doctors reserve it for situations where other options haven't worked or can't be tolerated. It is not a first-choice medication — it's a last-resort tool for serious, life-threatening conditions.
