Ascorbigen + Cinacalcet

Cinacalcet brand name: Sensipar.

No Known Interaction
The bottom line No known interaction

We found no known interaction between Ascorbigen and Cinacalcet in our sources. Absence of a documented interaction is not the same as proven safety, and does not guarantee one does not exist. Do not start, stop, or change a medication or supplement based on this page; confirm with your pharmacist or doctor first. Additionally, although there is no interaction, the label for Cinacalcet states a food rule worth keeping to.

Ascorbigen and Cinacalcet

We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.

No Known Interaction Found

We did not find a documented interaction between Cinacalcet and Ascorbigen in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — there is often limited research on supplements and herbal products, especially around drug interactions.

Worth understanding: our licensed dataset holds no drug-interaction record for Ascorbigen at all — not against Cinacalcet, and not against any other medication we track. This verdict therefore rests on the absence of any recorded data, not on research that looked at this combination and found nothing. We cannot rule an interaction out.

If you decide to take both, the practical routine is simple: add one new thing at a time and note the date you started it. If the combination is going to disagree with you, it usually shows in the first days to a couple of weeks — and a start date turns “I’ve been feeling off” into something a pharmacist can actually work with. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.

Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

What Ascorbigen Itself Has Been Linked To

This is not an interaction — nothing below involves Cinacalcet. It is the side-effect record for Ascorbigen on its own, from the licensed Natural Medicines monograph. If something new turns up after you add Ascorbigen, this list is the first place to look.

  • Bloating or gas Additional detail

“Orally, when used in combination with broccoli powder, ascorbigen has been reported to cause flatulence, abdominal distension, and unpleasant after taste. It is unclear if these effects are due to ascorbigen, broccoli powder, or the combination.”

Everything above comes from the Natural Medicines adverse-effect record for Ascorbigen — expand a row for the licensed statement it rests on. We read the ADVERSE REACTIONS section of Cinacalcet’s FDA label too, and the two lists don’t meaningfully overlap — which is why no Cinacalcet column appears here.

How to take them

Some Cinacalcet Products Have a Food Rule — Ascorbigen Should Not Break It

At least one FDA label for a product containing Cinacalcet says to take it with food. If you take Ascorbigen on an empty stomach out of habit, keep them separate — and take Cinacalcet with a meal where the label says to.

This may not be true of your version. Food instructions belong to the product, not the ingredient: two Cinacalcet products can carry different directions, and extended-release forms often differ from immediate-release ones. The label we read is quoted below — check the directions on your own box or bottle, or ask your pharmacist, for how to take the exact product you were given.

Cinacalcet tablets should be taken with food or shortly after a meal ( 2.1 ) • Tablets should always be taken whole and not divided ( 2.1 ) • Secondary HPT in patients with CKD on dialysis ( 2.2 ): o Starting dose is 30 mg once daily.

From the Dosage and Administration section of the FDA label we read for Cinacalcet — where that label names a specific product, the instruction is that product's. See the Cinacalcet drug page ›

A food rule is not an interaction — it is about how much of the medicine you absorb. The directions that came with your own product, and your pharmacist, outrank anything on this page.

“Cinacalcet (Sensipar) is dosed carefully against blood calcium and parathyroid hormone levels, usually in people with kidney disease, so anything that changes how much of a dose actually gets absorbed deserves real attention. All 17 supplement interactions on file share a single mechanism.”

  • Antioxidant support
  • Immune support

  • General wellness
  • Detoxification support

Ascorbigen is a natural compound formed when indole-3-carbinol (from cruciferous vegetables) combines with vitamin C, and it is mainly studied in the lab and in early research. There is not enough good human evidence to confirm it helps any specific health condition, and its safety as a supplement is not well established. Talk with your pharmacist or doctor before taking it.

About Cinacalcet

What Is Cinacalcet Used For?

Brand name: Sensipar

Cinacalcet tablets are used to treat secondary hyperparathyroidism (overactive parathyroid glands caused by kidney disease) in adult patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) who are on dialysis. This use applies to cinacalcet tablets, cinacalcet hydrochloride tablets, and Sensipar. Importantly, cinacalcet is not approved for CKD patients who are not on dialysis, due to a higher risk of dangerously low calcium levels.

Cinacalcet tablets are also used to lower high calcium levels (hypercalcemia) in adults with parathyroid carcinoma (a rare cancer of the parathyroid gland), and in adults with primary hyperparathyroidism who need surgery based on their calcium levels but cannot have that surgery.
