Nephrotoxic Drugs
Why this applies to Bendroflumethiazide, Potassium
Bendroflumethiazide, Potassium falls under Nephrotoxic Drugs — the group Asian Water Plantain interacts with.
Interaction has been demonstrated in animal or in lab research but has been shown not to occur in humans..
Here's the gist with this pairing. Bendroflumethiazide is a thiazide-type water pill, and your tablet pairs it with potassium to help replace what you lose. The main concern on file isn't about how the drug is broken down. Instead, it's that very high doses of Asian water plantain showed signs of kidney stress in animal studies, and your diuretic also leans on your kidneys to do its work.
Honestly, this is rated minor and unlikely. The worry only showed up at extreme doses far beyond what a person would take. Still, since both can affect the kidneys and your fluid and salt balance, watch for things like dizziness, unusual tiredness, muscle cramps, or low urine output. If you want to try this supplement, please run it by your pharmacist or doctor first.
