These two interact in 2 distinct ways. Each one is explained separately below.
Why Are There 2 Interactions?
Dolomite interacts with whole categories of medication. Bendroflumethiazide, Potassium falls into 2 of those categories, so it can interact with Dolomite in 2 different ways. We’ve listed each one below — your overall risk is driven by the most serious of them (Major).
THIAZIDE DIURETICS
1 of 2Why this applies to Bendroflumethiazide, Potassium
Bendroflumethiazide, Potassium falls under THIAZIDE DIURETICS — the group Dolomite interacts with.
Dolomite contains calcium, and thiazides reduce calcium excretion by the kidneys. Using thiazides along with moderately large amounts of dolomite increases the risk of milk-alkali syndrome (hypercalcemia, metabolic alkalosis, kidney failure).
Interaction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports..
Here's the thing to know about pairing dolomite with your bendroflumethiazide. This kind of water pill (a thiazide diuretic) tells your kidneys to hold onto more calcium instead of flushing it out. Dolomite is loaded with calcium, so taking the two together can stack up calcium in your blood, especially if you're using larger supplement amounts rather than tiny culinary doses.
When calcium climbs too high (a problem called milk-alkali syndrome), you can feel nausea, vomiting, constipation, confusion, weakness, or excessive thirst and urination, and in serious cases it can strain your kidneys. This is rated a major, likely concern. Please don't stop either one on your own. A quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor about a safer calcium source is the smart move.

POTASSIUM-SPARING DIURETICS
2 of 2Bendroflumethiazide, Potassium also falls under POTASSIUM-SPARING DIURETICS.
Potassium-sparing diuretics also have magnesium-sparing properties, which can counteract the magnesium losses associated with loop and thiazide diuretics. Dolomite contains magnesium, which may increase the risk for hypermagnesemia.
Interaction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports..
Your medicine pairs bendroflumethiazide (a thiazide water pill) with a potassium supplement. Here's the wrinkle: dolomite is a source of magnesium, and the potassium-sparing side of this kind of combo can help your body hold onto magnesium too. So in theory, regularly adding dolomite on top could nudge your magnesium level a little higher than expected.
To be honest, this is a theoretical concern based on how the drugs work, not something widely reported in real patients. For most people with healthy kidneys it's unlikely to cause trouble. But if magnesium climbs too high, you might notice flushing, nausea, muscle weakness, or feeling unusually drowsy. Since dolomite can also contain traces of heavy metals like lead, I'd skip it and ask your pharmacist about a cleaner supplement if you need one.

About Dolomite
What is Dolomite?
- Source of calcium
- Source of magnesium
- Bone health support
- Antacid for heartburn
- Mineral supplementation
Dolomite is a natural mineral that provides both calcium and magnesium. However, many health authorities advise against using it because dolomite products have been found to contain heavy metals like lead, arsenic, and mercury, and safer, better-tested calcium and magnesium supplements are widely available.
