Dolomite + Hydrochlorothiazide, Spironolactone
Hydrochlorothiazide, Spironolactone brand names: Spirozine, Aldactazide, Aldactide 25, Aldactide 50.
Hydrochlorothiazide, Spironolactone falls into 2 drug categories that Dolomite can interact with; the most serious is rated major. Taking thiazides with dolomite might increase the risk of hypercalcemia and kidney failure.

These two interact in 2 distinct ways. Each one is explained separately below.
Why Are There 2 Interactions?
Dolomite interacts with whole categories of medication. Hydrochlorothiazide, Spironolactone falls into 2 of those categories, so it can interact with Dolomite in 2 different ways. We’ve listed each one below — your overall risk is driven by the most serious of them (Major).
THIAZIDE DIURETICS
1 of 2Why this applies to Hydrochlorothiazide, Spironolactone
Hydrochlorothiazide, Spironolactone falls under THIAZIDE DIURETICS — the group Dolomite interacts with.
Dolomite contains calcium, and thiazides reduce calcium excretion by the kidneys. Using thiazides along with moderately large amounts of dolomite increases the risk of milk-alkali syndrome (hypercalcemia, metabolic alkalosis, kidney failure).
Interaction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports..
Here's the thing to watch with your combo pill: the hydrochlorothiazide part makes your kidneys hold onto calcium instead of flushing it out. Dolomite is loaded with calcium, so pairing the two can let calcium climb too high in your blood. In larger amounts this can lead to what's called milk-alkali syndrome, which means high calcium, an acid-base imbalance, and even kidney trouble.
Signs to know: nausea, constipation, feeling unusually thirsty, confusion, or weakness. On top of that, dolomite can carry heavy metals like lead, so it's not a supplement I'd reach for anyway. Please don't change your blood pressure pill, but do check with your pharmacist or doctor before taking dolomite, and ask about a cleaner calcium option if you need one.

POTASSIUM-SPARING DIURETICS
2 of 2Hydrochlorothiazide, Spironolactone also falls under POTASSIUM-SPARING DIURETICS.
Potassium-sparing diuretics also have magnesium-sparing properties, which can counteract the magnesium losses associated with loop and thiazide diuretics. Dolomite contains magnesium, which may increase the risk for hypermagnesemia.
Interaction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports..
Your combo pill pairs hydrochlorothiazide with spironolactone. The spironolactone half is what matters here. While a plain water pill (the thiazide) tends to flush out magnesium, spironolactone actually helps your body hold onto magnesium. Since dolomite supplies extra magnesium, the worry is that levels could slowly climb higher than they should, a state called hypermagnesemia.
I'll be honest: this is a theoretical concern based on how these work, not something seen often in real patients with healthy kidneys. Still, signs of too much magnesium include feeling unusually tired, weak, flushed, or having a slow heartbeat. If your kidneys are weak, the risk is higher. Please don't stop anything, just run dolomite by your pharmacist or doctor first, since safer calcium and magnesium options exist.

About Dolomite
What is Dolomite?
- Source of calcium
- Source of magnesium
- Bone health support
- Antacid for heartburn
- Mineral supplementation
Dolomite is a natural mineral that provides both calcium and magnesium. However, many health authorities advise against using it because dolomite products have been found to contain heavy metals like lead, arsenic, and mercury, and safer, better-tested calcium and magnesium supplements are widely available.
