Finafloxacin falls under QUINOLONE ANTIBIOTICS — the group Dolomite interacts with.

Theoretically, the magnesium in dolomite might decrease the absorption of quinolone antibiotics.
Dolomite contains magnesium, which can form insoluble complexes with quinolones in the gut. Advise patients to take oral quinolones at least 2 hours before or 4-6 hours after dolomite.

Here's the thing to know if you take dolomite alongside finafloxacin (Xtoro). Finafloxacin belongs to the quinolone family of antibiotics, and these drugs have a well-known habit of grabbing onto minerals like the calcium and magnesium in dolomite. When that happens in your gut, the two clump together into a form your body can't absorb well, so less of the antibiotic actually gets into your system.

Practically speaking, that could mean a weaker antibiotic, which is a real concern when you're trying to clear an infection. The simple fix is spacing them apart: take your quinolone at least 2 hours before, or 4 to 6 hours after, the dolomite. This is based on how these drugs behave rather than hard study data, but it's an easy precaution. One note: Xtoro is an ear drop, so this mainly matters with oral quinolones. Check with your pharmacist about your exact product.
